Re: Vanquish with T Canalizer

I wish I can help but my first pattern ship already came with one installed and set up.

Re: Vanquish with T Canalizer

I will probably be ordering a Vanquish and will add a canalizer but have a few questions. What is the general guideline for a tcan position and incidence?
Thanks

At first I thought the T-Canalizing thing was a gimmick but now I have had a chance to fly several airplanes both with and without a T-Can I feel that I can say without hesitation that it improves the authority of the tail control surfaces especially Rudder.

As for the size of the T-can, does the rudder authority increase with a larger T-can I can not say for sure. What I can say is that the rudder authority on my BJ Craft Invitation is phenomenal. It has a much larger T-Can than my Vanquish but it also has a HUGE fuselage so there are other factors at work here. It will do about as tight a knife edge loop as an elevator loop.

The idea of electric pattern is very appealing to me (I am migrating all my planes to electric; I dont have any electric pattern plane at the moment)

Also- what sort of flying time are you getting?
I don't have good scales here so I don't know the weight of this plane. Actually I would like to know my self so I am going to try to have it weighed and report it here.

I am using F3A Unlimited batteries 10s 5100ma and easily flying the Masters pattern plus a couple of additional maneuvers. I estimate that 8 min. is close to the limit but it will depend some on motor/prop combo used as well as style of flying.

I used to fly pattern in the eighties and though my first love is IMAC I am intrigued by the electric pattern evolution. Going to give it a go this summer. Being totally ignorant of electric systems, this will be a fun learning experience.

A forward C of G will generally dictate the need for positive wing incidence. The amount required can only be determined by flight testing but since I was flying with people who had extensive experience (including that of Andrew Jeski) flying this airplane I went with their advise.
No sense trying to re-invent the wheel, their advise turned out to be correct!
