Re: 100cc Wildhare Extra 260 re-build

I have not been able to get out much with this plane but I have put in enough flights to pronounce this rebuild as a success. The EME 120 is strong (especially on the RE-2 pipes! LOL) and the plane tracks beautifully. Blew out a flex header yesterday while doing the negative snap at the top of an outside loop (#7 in the intermediate IMAC sequence). Plane suddenly sounded like a Harley Davidson LOL. Landed and discovered the flex header had completely blown apart. . Guess I'll put a second set of pipe supports....

Anybody with an older Wildhare airframe will definitely benefit from a structural rebuild (even if you don't go all out to make it an IMAC specific airframe).

Re: 100cc Wildhare Extra 260 re-build

Well it's almost a month and a half since this plane was finished and I was FINALLY able to get out today for a maiden flight!! The EME started up right away and seemed to be running well so I put it up. Nice and quiet on the tuned pipes and lots of power Put in three flights and although my thumbs are pretty rusty, it felt really good! Just a hair tail heavy for my taste (pretty "pitchy" and it kept climbing on the hands off inverted 45). First impressions are that it feels really locked in, knife edges well. Need to experiment a lot more with the "snap" settings as they are really buried. Being tail heavy the elevator is really effective so the snaps might get better with a better balance. I also need to add more contrasting colour on the top and bottom of the wings/stab to get a better visual lock on the plane!

Did not have anyone available to video but I hope to post some soon. Lots of work but so far, definitely worth it!
