Re: Looking to buy Sky Master 2M Viper

I've got a Boomer Élan that will be for sale. If I'm making the connection right, I think someone gave me your number. I'm down in the states until Monday but will pm you my email.

Re: Looking to buy Sky Master 2M Viper

Over the last many, many years of turbine ops I have had the opportunity to fly the Jet Legend, Skymaster and CARF Viper. The airframe is not " first jet" friendly. As others have reported the design has a tendency to snap with little warning. There are many other more successful jets available to you. Just as a side note...I have experience with and recommend you research the following....

- BTE Reaction
- Boomerang airframes ie Sprint, Elan, XL
- CARF Ultra Flash
- BVM Bobcat
- Pilot Dolphin
- XCaliber series
- CARF Eurosport
- Avanti S

Lastly, I have heard good reports on the new T1 jet offered by Kingtech ( Pacific Jets )
and have purchased one. It is an all composite design, light weight with excellent overall dimensions / gear etc. I will have it ready for next spring. If you are interested in seeing it or want to play on the sticks come to the Princeton Spring Fly In.

Cheers

The Sprint is best for everyone entering Turbines. Later you can keep it as most love it as a goto jet that can handle short fields and high winds, or sell it as it will be snapped up fast!

You can also go larger with the Elan, Torus and XL These larger Boomers need bigger engines but will give you a great 3D envelope if that's what you're after.

Re: Looking to buy Sky Master 2M Viper

The AD Scorpion is much like the Viper and since I've been flying RC for the last 15 years I thought I could handle it no problem. I followed all the advice I could get on setup and programming and yet it was a twitchy snap-prone monster that ended badly and early in its life, as you can see.

I swallowed my pride and now I'm building a Boomerang Sprint. It's what I should have started with all along.

Have to see what Deans thinks of his..... The Dolphin is maybe a better bet ? BUT still think the Boomer Sprint is still the best bet.

I have heard the TOne T1 (or Fortune) is a better 2M option.

Re: Looking to buy Sky Master 2M Viper

Yep, same here.

Boomerang Sprint, JSM Xcaliber or a Reaction would be a much better start to jets.

The Viperjets do have snap tendancies if you are not careful or knowledgable of the issues. Great plane, but for the more experienced jet pilot.

Good luck!

Re: Looking to buy Sky Master 2M Viper

I have to echo the above comments. I've watched very experienced pilots with tons of flights on this airplane get caught by an unexpected snap. Even the big ones do it. Pretty airplane but far from the best option. F15's and F16's are even far better choices.

Re: Looking to buy Sky Master 2M Viper

Agreed. I really don't think the Viper 2M would make a good first jet. They have some characteristics that take some getting used to and could make your first experiences not be pleasant.

A Boomerang Sprint, JSM Xcalibur or even an AD Scorpion would be a better choice IMO.

Re: Looking to buy Sky Master 2M Viper

I know they are very sharp looking but have to be built very light and TO and land fast......from what I gave seen.
Would suggest a Boomer Sprint or the Elan . If you like building , the BTE Reaction is great.

Talk to the guys arround Calgary that fly jets and see what they suggest.h
