Re: ****THE CALGARY EVENT IS ON****

Hi Bill
That was our promotion of the 2007 event. We are taking the year off in 2011 and attending events this year. Hope to see you at Princeton in the spring.

Actually.... this is a very old thread (2007) As far as I am aware there will not be a jet meet in or near Calgary this season.

Hi Alan, Great, I think this would be a great event to attend, what is the situation on dry camping with a 28 foot 5th. Would it be a walk to the flight line?
Looking to hear from you.

akb Prizes available to pilots.
We will be awarding the two DX-7 radios as prizes in two categories.
Pilot's choice award and Peoples choice award.
Most of our sponsors are sending in prizes and gifts so basically everyone who registers for this event will walk away with something.
Two more sponsors to announce today is Dreamworks RC and Modelland from here in Calgary. Modelland will donating a trainer RC airplane, radio and engine from a draw that will be from the votes of the people's choice award.
Looking forward to seeing you here

akb This seems to be a weekend of announcements with the High River RC Jet Rally. We have just confirmed that Altecare RC has agreed to be major contributing sponsor to our July event. With the expenses of an event like this we could not hold this event without the support of people like Peter Ayache. Peter has been a supporter of RC for many years and is also our jet committee chairman, for Model Aeronautics Association of Canada. Thanks for your support Peter and Altecare RC.

Wayne22 Sounds like you are creating a first class event there Alan...
Speaking for myself, a modest landing fee would not be out of the question to help cover some of the expenses that you are incurring...

akb More news just to release this afternoon. We now have just confirmed with PM Hobbycraft here in Calgary, that we will have a second Spectrum DX-7 Radio that has been made available to us. Dean Wichmann made the first one available. So now you could have two opportunities to win a Spectrum DX-7. Stay tunned for details, of how you could win one of these brand new technology radios as more information will be made at a latter date.
We will have other prizes to announce as we finish our negotiations with our sponsors.
Don't forget to make your reservations at Super 8 Motel (403-652-444for High River RC Jet Rally High River, Alberta Canada July 27, 28 and 29th.

akb Hi fellows just bit of news on the Event.
We are getting of lot of help with our event with the Town of High River and also the Municipal District of Foothills. They will be donating infastructure items so that we can make our site compliant with MAAC and MOT standards. So we will be owing them a welcomed thank you.
It looks like the concessions will be handled by the Local Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron. They may even take on our barbeque as well. They are in need of funding as they are building a new hangar/drill hall out at the airport in High River.
The chamber of commerce is also involved to help us with the event. Our event will be on the Travel Alberta website. If it can be arranged a display of aircraft will be set up at the High River Trade Fair. This display will be in the local recreational complex, April 20 and 21. All aircraft will have to be at the Fair by no later than 3pm on the 20th.
Any Calgary area jet jocks that would like to display your aircraft at this event and help promote the High River RC Jet Rally, please contact me so we can arrange for tables.
Sponsorship is going well, we have some of the US RC jet companies helping us out. Altecare RC and Great Northern Models are supporting our event. Some local Calgary area Hobby stores are considering support. Local High River support is coming from The Town, MD of Foothills, Super 8 Motels and other related service industry businesses are considering our event. Lots of room for more sponsors if you wish to be partner in our event. Please give me a call or email me.
So it looks good. Do you fellows see any problems with having a pre register of the event. That way the Aircadets can get a plan on food estimates. At this point, I am trying not to charge for pilots or spectators. Give me your thoughts. We can probably leave the pre register open until a week before the event. I will confirm this with the Air Cadet leader.
Just a note to any of the ladies that may be attending the event, it sounds like that weekend will also be a local event in High River that tours gardens in the town. So if the ladies get tired of hearing jet blast this maybe a change of pace for them. I will supply more ifo about this if requested.
That's all I know for now.
