Re: Ready2Fly Freewing 90mm Venom Kit, 1.5M wing span (video added) Wing drop on the Venom. I experimented with the elevator throw and reduced the throw to 15 mm . This has all but eliminated the wing drop especially at low airspeeds. Pictures of my Venom in its new Swiss Paint scheme. Jeti receiver , stock fan, A3 gyro. Over 100 flights and its great as a glider as well. |

Re: Ready2Fly Freewing 90mm Venom Kit, 1.5M wing span (video added) One note of caution for Venom owners. The last couple Vwnoms we assembled required weight in one wing for balance. This latest needed two quarters to be glued into the right wing tip for balance. This will help prevent wing drop at low speeds. |

Since seeing the video, texted a good friend who is looking to get into EDF and is quite British. Loves the DH planes of the 40's and 50's. We are checking to see if we can locate a gently used one. Need only the fuse, canopy and front gear doors, and the retracts and struts. The person can keep the rest. I'll post a kit bash post if we do locate one. Since I'll have all the templates and computer files, Instructions etc, I could offer them inexpensively. |

If you are interested in trying it, I could cut you the wings and vertical tail and mail them to you. Just got home from a 8 day vacation at the hospital and have a fairly extended recoup time, basically, the whole summer. So, I'll have time on my hands to play. |

Re: Ready2Fly Freewing 90mm Venom Kit, 1.5M wing span (video added) Just began assembling the red and white version of the Freewing 90mm Venom (kit+ which comes with retracts servos, wiring but no EDF or ESC). The package came within a week (using the cheapest shipping) from RCCastle and was well packaged without any shipping damage. We had a 6 blade 90mm FW fan from another Venom which had passed on to the foam graveyard in the sky. It performed and sounded quite nice drawing only about 70amps settled so a Hobbywing 80amp ESC will be used (same as the type in the FW F14). A Turnigy BEC is needed as the ESC was OPTO. We took the shortened nose gear from the departed Venom and installed it in the new one along with removing all the nose gear doors to keep things simpler to maintain. The main gear retract mounting screws all seemed to be stripped as if someone used a power screwdriver but that was easy to fix by putting a couple small wires into each hole and reinserting the screws. |
