Re: Need more speed

Hey guys thanks for all the input. Here is what I am planning next I am working on a custom body that I have about 35 hours into that is totally aerodynamic and I am going to get a maxamp battery. I know everyone claims they are over rated but according to independant studies they do have a burst rating of 150 c but what intrests me more is the sustained rating of between 70 and 75c. Now this would allow me to get a much lower mah battery allowing for a lot less weight. with the lower weight and the aerodynamic body as well as the aerodynamic wheels I am working on I should be able to squeeze some more topp end out of it. As for being at the top of the rpm if I was I would be moving at 99.3mph so I must be loosing it somewhere. If anyone can think of anything else I can do regardless whether it is tested or not.please let me know I am really appreciative of all of the input guys keep it comming

P.S I know that I will probably take some flack for the max amp batteries please dont just tell me they are junk give me a study or something to back it up or even better another battery that has a 70 c rating that is cheaper. Cause the one thing I can say about Max amp is they are riddiculously over priced. Unfortunatley to date I have found no other battery which even comes close to the same power to weight ratio

Re: Need more speed

you are already turning the motor at 42000rpm, above the accepted safe 40000rpm, so i doubt you'll get much more out of it. more kv, bigger motor, gearing, 4 poles, and more volts are about all that's left to get a decent speed gain.

Re: Need more speed

Yeah if you check out my you tube I have it slammed so you cant even fit a smoke pack under it and I do have a set of jacos but they actually eat top speed for some reason I loose about 7 to 11 mph when I use them I believe it is because of the lack of grip I actually have a lowering mod on my you tube channel for anyone lookin to slam one of these. It is a great mod check it out and thanks for the suggestions bud

Re: Need more speed

Get some jaco prism wheels (made a huge difference for me, one of the best buys), and get that sucker as low down as possible, ditch the wheelie bar, i got some front knuckles that can mount the shocks on so they are almost horizontal, and make the back low with different springs and shock oil. I got my rustler so its only like 1/2" off the ground. When its that low the front end doesn't want to lift. Also make a scoop for the front out of some old body plastic or something.

Re: Need more speed

yeah I could put taller tires on it but that would just simply change the gear ratio. I am already right close to the top of the most effective gearing with the 41/76 gearing if I need more gear I would throw the 42 or 43 or 44 or 45 pinion in I think eh. Ubless there is another reason to go to the taller tire. If therre is please let me know and thanks for the suggestion.

Hey would there be any advantage to going to a smaller spur and pinion to achieve this gear ratio or ah probably not

Re: Need more speed

you're already pushing harder than the system wants to go, but for taller tires, get 17mm adapters and run some 1/8 buggy tires.

Re: Need more speed

Thanks for the reply parsons and as for aceplanet as I mentioned I haave a gyro comming which should eliminate the controll issue aand the reason I want to go faster is that I have a sponsorship awaiting me if I can get 2.8 mph more out of this stock velineon set up. I know there are alot of knowledgable guys here and like I said I am hoping for just some basic ideas Thanks for the comments guys

Re: Need more speed

I don't think you'll be able to do anything to get more power of the motor. Your only real option is to change to a more powerful motor/esc or at least one that will let you run 4s.
