No problem. Hit me up with any questions (btw... heat up the hub sitting on a socket and lightly tap the hub, the radials may just drop out ...

Thanks Jeff, I will try to heat it... Still need to figure out how to drag them out though without dental tool...

They are a very tight fit with very small tolerances.

Remove the metal hub from the plastic gear and heat the hub with a small butane torch to help it expand a little.

That's where I am having trouble - I do not have dental pick set but anything I tried to take them out fails. I am afraid to damage them as well
They just pressed there, right? No glue / threadlock or anything?
What else can be used besides dental pick set?

Correct. Remove the radial bearings first of course. I have a little dental pick set that I use to aid in this.

To install the new bearing, just line it up in the hole, and press it in a vise. If you don't have a vise, use a table and a c-clamp. If you don't have that, you can hammer it in with a small chunk of wood and the table, but you risk damage.

What you describe is how to get OWB out, but before I need to take two radial bearings out, right? Or should I use same 'ratchet' method for radial bearings as well?

Re: Compass Atom 500 one-way bearing removal

Hi Pumba, I use 2 sockets from a ratchet set.

Find one socket that's slightly larger that the gear hub can rest on, but has an opening wide enough that the one way bearing can be punched downward. Place the socket on the table, and the hub on top of the socket.

Use a second socket the same size (or just smaller) than the OWB ... it should rest on the outside edge of the OWB but be able to fit through the opening of the hub.

Then, using a small finishing hammer or mallet, punch the bearing out by hitting the smaller socket.

There are other ways, but this is the method I've been using for a long time now on it.

If you need photos, I'll see what I can do ...

Compass Atom 500 one-way bearing removal

Hi Guys

I need to remove one-way bearing from the autorotation hub, but looks like first I need to remove 2 radial bearings (on both sides of OWB). Any idea how to take them out?

Thanks in advance.
