MOST DEFFINITELY as it will be about another 6 months before I start mine so I'd like to see what others have done and gone through.

For retracts I will probably look at something from Sierra, screw jacks all the way baby!

Re: Valley Aviation 1/5th Hurricane

We should, I've put up some stuff, and a few pics of Mike Herman's build to date. He's going to be coming over sometime, to work on his wing at my shop. A group build thread would be great, so we can all share info. There should be some older build threads. I've got my fuse complete, fabric on, tail feathers on, and mostly covered, and the wing is framed, sheeted fully on top, so next step is working in all the controls, lg plates, etc, then sheeting the bottom and glassing. I'm hoping to get back on the Hurricane soon, probably after my vacation, Mid-August.

Re: Valley Aviation 1/5th Hurricane

I'll try to get some more photos up of mine. I haven't chosen retracts yet, and might install a bolt-in fixed gear until I do make a decision. I'd much prefer electric to air.

What retracts is everybody planning on using for this project? Can any of the guys with work in progress put up some photos?

OK, have about two hours of work in the AM, then they'll be packaged, and ready to mail out. I'll take them to the post office tomorrow, and they'll be on the way Monday first thing. I'll send tracking numbers for everyone as well.

Getting there. All the bulkheads except for the firewall are cut and sanded, wing ribs are all done, and working on the balsa parts/tail feathers now. Plan is to be done and Shipped Saturday by 5 PM! If I don't already have your address, plse PM me with it. I've just received the decal sets I ordered from Callie Graphics, for the 1/5th Spit, Hurricane, and M-109, and the huge sunderland, and they're really sweet. If you haven't seen her work, I'll post pics on here ASAP.

Re: Valley Aviation 1/5th Hurricane

If I was going into business full time, perhaps, but it's more a labour of love. I'd hate to just plug in some computer thing, press a button and have parts spit out the other side. It's incredibly rewarding to see a plane come together, with every part being hand crafted. Even more rewarding now that others are building from something I started.

There has to be companies that can do that sort of thing, but only thing I know about EPO is how to spell it!
