Re: DLG/HLG Gliders Thread

This layout was suggested elsewhere and I think it has a lot of merit. There'd be no need for vertical separation. I think it still needs a bit of separation between the aileron servos to make room for the tail cables. I'll make a cardboard mock up as soon as I get time.
Cheers

Thank you for that suggestion, I never thought about vertical separation of the rudder and elevator cables.
Having taken a look at my plane I'm sure I can raise one of the two tail surface servos.
Cheers

Glen,
Thanks for those pointers they are something else I'll have to keep in mind.

ps I will be using pulleys for my tail servos

First pic is my cardboard mock up of the new servo tray with the supplied one. Other puc is just an internet grab showing the problem with pull cables.
Hello... Some people move the pull wire tubing to the fuselage sides, and position it to keep the pull wire above/below the aileron pushrods. Amazed that I have set this nice project aside for a full year now, in favour of other projects. But I will be using servo pulleys with the pull wires starting at the fuse sides like this.

One thing (which is probably quite trivial) about spreading apart the aileron servos as you suggest is that this positions the pushrods so they penetrate the fuselage at a flatter angle and I think this would require elongated holes for a straight run, and that it would also be harder to estimate where to cut, a task that I really hate doing

FWIW I listened to some folks on RCG and am doing the ailerons direct with carbon tubing stiffeners and no sleeves. Soon, real soon, LOL

I chose the mini dart 2 because it has more room for radio equipment than most dlg's in that category. However seeing the radio bay on my work bench it looks a lot smaller than it does on YT videos. So yes you are correct it will be a challenge particularly because this is my first attempt at dlg's. I'll just have to do lots of test fitting before applying any glue.

I see your local Great Hobbies store has several different name brand 500 to 600 mah single cell lipos in stock for around the 13.00 dollar range.

Re: DLG/HLG Gliders Thread

Daren,
Thanks, I'm hoping that if I de-case my spare AR6610T it will fit. It would be nice to have vario and altitude call outs. I don't really want to buy an AR410 unless I absolutely have to. I might have a Lemon 6 ch laying around as well if my memory serves me.
I'll check out banggood as well for lipos.
Cheers
