Re: Collective pitch fixed wing! That's pretty cool. I've also seen this on some foamys down in Toledo. Really entertaining to watch. But on another note here. I could see this being useful in a scale application. Something like a turboprop. How cool would that be to be able to feather your prop. Just like the full size  .

Re: Collective pitch fixed wing! Electric VPP (variable pitch propellers) has been around for a few years. I saw my first VPP foamy flight at ETOC in Toledo four years ago. On lightweight foamys, VPP is accomplished using hollow prop shaft motors where the pitch reversing rod runs through the shaft and is connected to a separate servo. There were three or four ETOC competitors using it four years ago, but it hasn't gained wide use, except in some freestyle routines. ...and yes, it looks very cool Peter |
