Re: Composite BAE-Hawk Modified Build

Sold. Best wishes to the new owner from Mississauga flying this magnificent 90mm 12 blade - 6sHV-2350 watt composite EDF. It was scary some times flying off the grass but, it was a whole lot of fun. //g.

Re: Composite BAE-Hawk Modified Build

Let us know how that lipo turns out, I've been hearing of some fairly serious quality issues with Hyperions lately, especially the HV.

Re: Composite BAE-Hawk Modified Build

Invested in more power this winter - Hyperion 4.35v/6s. The new canopy looks and works great so I decided to install a cockpit (back to the recycle bin for more acrylic). Added stabilizers: Main gear and wing fences. The final nose gear design is also working. Spring is here.

Re: Composite BAE-Hawk Modified Build

Nice job, and yes as i mentioned a few months back these are best suited to fields with smooth well-kept runways.

Re: Composite BAE-Hawk Modified Build

Flight 2> New modified CT-156 Canopy installed. Gusty winds 110/22-30kms//30 degree X-wind.. I made some changes in the control data base - She was a handful - Kept wanting to snap roll to the left (clean). I think I was tense and kept over-controlling the model with 30% expo// 28mm throws. 12 degree flap was better in the corners w/ nose down.. I'll change to 40% and 20mm throws for the next flight and try to calm down a little. Gear held up from a balked landing. It was an exciting 210 seconds (3.8V//land).
In any case; I suppose this HK BAE Hawk composite jet (e-tel mods) is not really a rough grass field model. She flies well and has survived -- I will continue to fly her although, I would recommend a well groomed flat grass//geo or paved runway. It's been a pleasure sharing the experience.

Re: Composite BAE-Hawk Modified Build

Do you have all the parts for the canopy still? Can it be pieced together and re-assembled?

Re: Composite BAE-Hawk Modified Build

Sorry - Poor writing skills. The canopy was shattered - not the (composite) vertical stab. Already cut a new cockpit canopy today from a Seagull CT-156 I had in stock.
Best wishes//g.
