Re: Floating flybar system for 250 and 500 HK heli And I went and drilled the flybar hole at the opposite angle of what it should be. This thread will be put aside for now and my flybarred 600 is back on the table. |

Re: Floating flybar system for 250 and 500 HK heli It is starting to come together this is only so you have an idea what the finished project will look like to this point. |

Re: Floating flybar system for 250 and 500 HK heli I have the threads cut and these next pics are shots of the temporary assembley as it will look when complete. The lock screws still need to be cut to size they are still far too long. Attachment 134847Attachment 134848Attachment 134849 This is what I have made so far. |

Re: Floating flybar system for 250 and 500 HK heli The first pic is of the phasing arms after being drilled to fit 450 flybar bearings at the main shaft end and 250 main blade grip bearings at the swash end. Attachment 134804 This next pic is another angle, due to thier size it is a bit of a chore to make them look really good so I will do some finishing but at times all I will worry about is getting rid of the rough edges. Attachment 134805 This pic is the newly finished phasing arms bolted to the material that will be the phasing block. Attachment 134806 next pic the block has been cut down and ready for threading and shaping Attachment 134807 This pic is of the cut block before final machining more to come in the next few days. |

Re: Floating flybar system for 250 and 500 HK heli I had a crash with my 250, not a bad one but one that made me think I better wait for good weather. I decided to make some landing gear to accomadate more electronics without a lot more weight below are some pics of that. Now the 250 head is a little more of a task. I started to machine the arms for the phasing sleeve must have changed my mind about a dozen times during the maching phase. Sat down on a few occasions and with supply on hand I came up with the final design for the arms. It will have bearings in both ends not the brass sleeves that come stock with it and also will be more skookum than stock, I do however always try to keep as much stock as I can. Some small progress but once I get my direction it moves much better, hope to have more before the weekend. |

Re: Floating flybar system for 250 and 500 HK heli That looks good. Can't wait to see the finished product. |

Re: Floating flybar system for 250 and 500 HK heli This is what the two pieces are end up like together. I would say I had a press fit of about .0015" because it took in the neighbourhood of about 300 to 500 pounds force to squeeze the Align head into my machined sleeve. At one point in had it about 1/8" from home then a little more frorce and it popped in all the way. The two bits were drilled, tapped and locktited in place so now the only way to get them apart is to destroy them. I now have to machine more but my vacation time is over and progress will be slower so I hope to have more before the weekend. |

Re: Floating flybar system for 250 and 500 HK heli The first picture is the two machined parts ready for assembley. This next picture is the start of the phasing collar and the head sleeve which has been machined to an exact fit, it slides on and off with a bit of resistance. The phasing collar will be outfitted with a couple of thumbscrews to hold it in line so it can be adjusted when testing starts. I found out with my four blade flybarred 600 head that this is the way to go because until it responds properly to inputs you need to tweak that thing just a tiny bit to make a big difference. More to come |

Re: Floating flybar system for 250 and 500 HK heli Here is the end the donor head is going into. I've machined it to .001" smaller than what the donor head will end up at. This other pic is the donor head in the lathe ready to be machined. |

Re: Floating flybar system for 250 and 500 HK heli How do you place pictures in line? You know describe something then put in the picture then carry on with more dialogue. Once I know what to do my post will be much better. |
