Re: Swanyhouse profiles

I was finally able to get out for the first fly of the year on Saturday. Took my old LT 40, Mid Star 40, SSE and the Mojo 65. It's a tradition of mine to make the first flights of the year on the planes that started it all.
Once I had a few flights under my belt I decided to maiden the Mojo. I decided to do a quick range check before it went airbourne and would'nt you know I had a major problem. I couldn'nt get more than 10' from the plane before controls started twitching and a complete lock out by 20'. After a lot of trouble shooting I found the rx to be the culprit, so I pulled the rx from my Mid Star and installed it into the Mojo.
The Thunder Tiger 120 Pro fired right up and I was quickly able to get the motor dialed in.
First take off was into a slight head wind and the plane broke ground on it's own in less than 20', and I had only given it 1/3 throtle. I was floored at how quickly and easily this plane went airbourne. Couple clicks to trim it level and it flew like a dream. It will hold a hover at slightly less than 1/2 throtle and will climb vertically like a missle at full. Absolutely no need to use full throtle on this plane.
Landing was just as easy and gracefull as the take off. Into a slight head wind it will basicaly slow to a crawl before the wheels will touch down.
I was getting 15 to 18 minutes of flying in on a 12oz fuel tank with a few onces to spare. I think 20 minutes is doable. The TT 120 handles this plane so incredibly easy that it will fly 3D all day at 1/4 to 1/3 throtle.
This plane far exceded my expectations, was most definately worth the effort to build and will be sure to see many happy flights in the future.

Curt was doing the flying while I snapped some pictures and shot some video, and he summed it up very well by saying, " I think this is the best flying plane I have ever flown."

The Mojo 65 Is fantastic.

P.S. We did fly our other planes as well that day.

Re: Swanyhouse profiles

Ya dun did good, Trav! I like the color! Kinda ol' school you don't see anymore and on a mmuch cooler airframe! Slabs don't look that good after a season of flying anyways, lol. It'll be an Iron Bird in no time!

I do that scheme wise too. I've got my Sen's and Canuck colors on the big ones! Funny how we do that, eh?!

Re: Swanyhouse profiles

I was originaly going to cover it the same as my Primo, as I really like the Canada flag theme. Then decided I would do a Saskatchewan Roughrider theme. Green/white on top and white/green on bottom with logos and lettering same as their jerseys. But, the Ultracote green covering was not nearly dark enough to be representative of the teams colors, and I was not about to buy Monokote to get the color I needed. Also, our local vinyl cutting business never got back to me with the lettering and numbers I wanted. So, I made do with what I had.

Too bad because I was pretty pumped to do the Rider theme. I had it all planned out and it would have looked great. Personaly, I am a little let down with my colors. I had a much more satisfying vision in mind.

Always next time I guess.

Re: Swanyhouse profiles

The Webra is in the Christen Eagle. I have the TT 120 pro in the Mojo. I don't remember exactly what the TT 120 weighs but it was a bit heavier than the Webra 120 and quite a bit heavier than the recomended Saito 125. The plane still balances perfect with no extra weight added. I have an APC 16X8 on it right now but might switch to the 17X6 if I am not happy with the performance. Hitec HS 625mg servos in each wing and elevator and a HS 5645mg digital on the rudder. Futaba 3003 on the throtle.

This snow better start melting in a big hurry around here. This is now month 7 with the white stuff. Been a looong winter.

Only a month away until we pull our camper to the lake for the year. Might have to also load the snow blower so we can clear our camp site.

Re: Swanyhouse profiles

Finally finished the Mojo 65. Weighs in at 9lbs 2oz and balances dead centre of recomended range. This plane is quite large, so I had to place the Mojo 40 and Primo 40 along with it for a size comparison.
