Re: Horizon warranty service? I did this and included it in my package i sent in, i would assume the cheapest method of return shipping would be USPS but the lady today told me they don't ship via USPS for the fact they can't track it then. |

Re: Horizon warranty service? When you return something to Horizon for warranty or repair you need to fill out the online RMA. It asks you what type of return shipping you request by checking a box. Print a copy and return your item with the copy. If you leave it blank then they use UPS or Fedex. I recently received a motor back from a warranty repair shipped by U.S.P.S. (Which I had checked off) and Customs Canada charged me $45.00 for the value and brokerage fees. I appealed because it was a warranty repair, forwarded the letter that was in the box stating no charge from Horizon and a copy of my bill showing I purchased the item in Canada, and got all my money back in three weeks time. Re: Horizon warranty service? The issue I have is with UPS, not horizon. I have full faith at this point in horizon. When I called them today the people I needed to talk to were not in. I was actually surprised anyone would be there given that its new years eve. The package is to be reassessed by UPS with the knowledge that the contents were a repair and not a purchase. I will follow up here when I find out more but hope it didn't come across that my issue is with Horizon. |

Re: Horizon warranty service? I have nothing but praise fro Horizon Hobby's warranty service. They are a totally class act & go way beyond what I would have expected. In a recent case, my Tx got an error that could only be reset at the factory. Since I was sending it down I included 3 Rx & 2 ESC that were either dead or acting wierd. won't say why the Rx or ESC were not working but let's say it was not a manufacturing problem! I asked them to check them over & without any proof of purchase, etc. they sent me 2 new Rx & 2 new ESC. The 3rd Rx was OK. They sent 2 separate packages both via UPS. The 1st had the ESCs which were declared as value roughly $100 US. UPS charged me $25 for brokerage, etc. The 2nd was declared as $0 value warranty replacement & UPS charged me nothing. Go figure! HH seems to recognize there is an issue with UPS. Today I called HH product support about an AR6400 that is malfunctioning 2 weeks after purchase. They are sending a replacement but said they would send it Express Mail so I would not have to pay customs fees, etc. Maybe the key is to call Product Support & talk to a live person & ask them to either send stuff back by mail or declare $0 value? Re: Horizon warranty service? I sent a receiver, under warranty, about a year ago. They sent it back to me via Fedex, which simply left it in my mailbox. I was sure it was all fine until THREE MONTHS later, I received a bill from Fedex for $42!!! Took them 3 MONTHS and they call themselves a fast service???? That was $37 for brokerage, and $5 in taxes. I called them, and told them that it was an item under warranty, so they finally remove the $5 taxes. End result, I had to pay $37 in brokerage fee for a $49 receiver I could have bought brand new.... Horizon Hobby offer great warranty and great services, but I wish they would stop using courriers to send their products back. Basically, for us canadians, we are better without warranty. I wish they would simply sell us their products at a reduced cost but with no warranty at all. |

Re: Horizon warranty service? Just got my JR radio back from them. Sent it through my LHS, which is in Buffalo. Shipping was (dont get angry ) $6.99 US. It would have cost me gas Just to go to hamilton and back. So I had to deal with Canada Customs. Just got a green card and everything went smooth. Radio works great now. Tom Fort Erie Ont |

Re: Horizon warranty service? The charge is from UPS for brokerage fees and taxes. Horizon told me they only ship via UPS as its the only way they can track the packages. The driver said it looked like they are charging me as though i purchased the item being shipped. It is supposed to be getting reassessed. |

Re: Horizon warranty service? Quick question: you need to cover more facts, especially where the $80 charge is coming from -- sending the servoes to Horizon, or getting them through customs and the return trip? Also, who said that they had to go UPS? There's lots of threads on RCC that cover how to process the customs work yourself and only having to pay UPS the cost of handling the parcel but not the brokerage fees. |

Horizon warranty service? I just sent a couple servos back to horizon to get checked over, UPS just tried to charge me 80 bucks for them. Should they be charging me for these as I only sent them to get looked at. I've always felt UPS was a ripoff and now i know they are. Has anyone else experienced this with horizon? |
