Re: Ikon Self Leveling

I would look into this thread. https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=790590 It could be a setup problem. Make sure that on panel 5 your transmitter controls are correct, right and left aileron, and that the throws are correct. Then verify the motions and that the swash plate is level on panel 7. If you have any RED numbers when you are done setting up your heli on panel 7, rescue will definitely have issues. You would then need to go back to the mechanical adjustments on your heli to bring the pitch level adjustments that you have to make in panel 7, closer to 0.

Re: Ikon Self Leveling

I have my vibrations under the grey line on my nitro and my rescue is still taking off front left or just left. Is there Anyway to actually make the ikon work properly?

Obviously vibes play some part in the bailouts consistency but if you are in the +/- 25 range then you can notice issues with servo travel and end limits not being equal so its pretty reasonable to expect that it would affect bailout.

If you want to test, its easy enough if you have a bird with micro servos. going over 1 spline from where you are now wont be too much but will give you a servo with an adjustment closer to the red zone of 30ish. See how your bailout works then compared to a tighter set up

On standard sized servos 1 spline could be too much. harder to test but easier to see on the bench.

happy landings
Glad you agree, Ikon has a grey area on the vibration graph in the diagnostic section, as long as your within the grey area on the vibration graph, rescue works fine. As to what 0->100 means, they don't really say, I contacted them directly and all they would say is be in the grey area...

Hey Fellas!

Max: you mentioned redoing your radio so the first place you wanna go is to the 5th pannel and confirm that all the end points are good and youre centered on all channels.

Your swash arms need to be perfectly mechanically level @90* for bailout to work with any sort of reliability. The #'s under the servos in panel 7 show how off center you are... to high of a number and you'll need to remove the arm and skip over a tooth on the servo gear and reinstall the arm.

Before playing with rescue I would recommend setting one of your banks to auto level and this can help you confirm with less stress if you have your linkages where they need to be.

On my ikons I have 4 flight modes for the gov. and 3 different banks for different styles (although I use the banks mostly for testing fine tuning). There is a separate switch to enable bailout which works regardless of flight style or head speed.

Roll rates are useful for 3D but the main thing you'll want to look at in the advanced panel (setup->cyclic) is the feed forward gain. Lower agility but higher feed & roll rates makes the heli feel just right for me. Obviously you need to find your own sweet spot, and thats where the banks are really useful since you can test multiple adjustments during the same flight!

Happy Landings!

Re: Ikon Self Leveling

I will have to update the firmware in my 2 Ikon controllers.

Max, I just sold a spare Ikon today I had posted in the Classified

Re: Ikon Self Leveling

Software version 3.0.006 is out!

I wanted to tweak my 450 with the Ikon in it this morning. I still get the odd bobble every now and again. Drives me nuts. When I started up the Ikon app, I got a message from the Ikon software that there was an upgrade required. So I did. I had to reset blade size, unit orientation and flying style setup. Then I put 4 batteries through it. No more bobble! (so far).

I love how this heli feels so locked in. I keep saying I will put this Ikon on my 3GX 550 but the Ikon makes this crap 450 fly so good!

I had to do the whole setup.

You have to upgrade the icon unit to the new firmware level to get the new features. when it does the upgrade, I believe it wipes out all your settings so you have to start new.
