Re: Turboprop Dehavilland Beaver

the pics are nice but don't do this model justice. Angus brought it to the club meeting last week and it's stunning. his fit and finish work is always second to none. i can't wait to see him fly it.

Re: Turboprop Dehavilland Beaver

it is pretty much auto-start, I can have a very small on board propane or butane bottle and pre-fill it, this will get about 5-6 automatic starts from the transmitter. On this model engine the propane is needed to get the internals up to proper tempature before the kerosene is introduced, for simplicity I just feed the propane myself during the auto start sequence.

The new Turboprops have kerosene start and a fully automatic so no need for propane

Looking good!! Leather jackets for the pilots?! They must be corporate pilots! Bush pilots can't afford those after making alimony payments and paying the bar tab!

This may be a silly question.....I see a propane fitting, for starting I assume. Can the turboprop be out fitted with an auto start to not require the propane?

Re: Turboprop Dehavilland Beaver

A few more

The plane has come in at about 23lbs and the Wren 44 Turboprop has a static thrust of about 35lbs, so she should get off the ground fairly easily.

Re: Turboprop Dehavilland Beaver

well I've been plugging away at the Beaver, it is getting close to being done, just some minor details to finish up.

The fit and finish on the ARF is one of the best I have seen, although this has been more of an assembly than a build and the level of completion is a little more than sport scale it has been a pleasure, I'm sure I will continue to add detail to as time moves on.

I have brown leather Jackets on order for the guys

here are some pitures of the Plane:
