Yes it was, running red line 40:1 92 Octane

This happened a while back at the Ottawa Huckfest...

At the time I was running a falcon 27x12 @ 6850 rpm with hype pipes, 30 flights prior with no issues. I believe it was a result of over tweaking after dirt got into the carb after a pancake incident

I simply bought the parts from DA and my buddy Matt Lynes helped with the rebuilt.

Running great now, got the mej 28x12 back on

At least you got the plane down safely.

Yes from the flange that bolts to the exhaust port on the side of the head

Docdds So the header leangth is calculated from the hub right? Where it connects to the engine..

Pardon my ignorance guys I'm new to this but ohh soo Addicted.. Going to put them in my krill extra 35%

Re: DA120 - Who`s Ordered One??

I'm not sure if I ever shared this, but here's the spreadsheet of comparison from the KS can to ES Pipes to the RE2 pipes. I flew the most with the KS Cans. The RE2's were only tested on the stand. The ES pipes were flown about 5 times. SmoothPipes weren't out in time for this testing, so never got to run them.

Would be neat to hear if the latest batch of DA120's are comparable to my results.

From the test of pipes here's a few observations....

1) The ES pipes are very quiet.
2) Both are very sensitive to header length and the ES pipes consistently need 1 1/2 to 2" more header than the RE2's. 11.5" on the RE2's is stock MTW length, so no need to extend like the ES.
3) The RE2's appear to be a bit stronger, however the only way to know is to fly them both vs static #'s. This is generally the case with most of the engines we've tested (ie: RE2's being stronger), except for a couple motors where the ES outperform.
4) Some whicked power regardless of pipe - up there with the 3W and GP
5) If I were to post the 3W and GP spreadsheets, the DA is at the top or stronger with the small props. As the load increases, the 3W and GP outpull. Not saying one is better than the other - all about personal preference.
