Re: The best system to store yours big planes Not just for planes either. That's how I hang my canoe when it's not being used. Pulleys and yellow rope are for hauling it up and down. The blue straps are installed once it's is hauled up so that the weight of the canoe is not permanently on the yellow rope. (I park my car under that canoe!) A plus is that the canoe becomes an extra attic storage space when it's up there. My planes (when not in the trailer) generally hang from ladder hooks on the wall: |

Re: The best system to store yours big planes I tried the bike hanger that Canadian Tire sells. They have a pulley system and a cleat like they use on a sailboat. Not a real good idea for 40% airplanes because you cant get the right angle to release the cleat. They may work better if you put them in the middle of the garage. But I had to climb up on a ladder to release the cleat while supporting the plane on my head. Not a nice feeling with a 12 ceilings. Jeff |

Re: The best system to store yours big planes I have radiant heat in my garage, combined with the overhead door making the roof the last option. Here is a 30% S-bach and a Giant Super Sportster just hangin' around. Two pieces of scrap aluminum, four lag bolts, a carabiner, and a chunk of old rope. The dog can't even lift his leg to pee on the tail-feathers! |

Re: The best system to store yours big planes That 'garage' looks more like a small hangar. Great idea there. I bought a pulley system for storing a bicycle from Princess Auto. It needs the winch & straps though. It goes in this spring. |
