Re: Flying wire mounts Metal landing gear straps work well depending on the size of the model. Otherwise I would make them from brass or aluminum. Proctor Enterprises has a really good selection if your not interested in making them, these are extremely nice! Bill |

Re: Flying wire mounts Derrick, years ago I built an SE5-A with flying wires. Covered in Sig Kover all. I put spruce blocks in where the attachments were, capped them as I did with cap stripping, balsa for sanding (1/16). drilled then with 1/8th bit. Covered the wings, then perferated the covering to install brass tubing with the end pinched flat at one end, and a 1/16th hole drilled in the end. The other end had a few file groves near the deep end for adheasion. Length was about 1-3/8, with about an inch of depth. The wires were 1/16 music wire, solder links on each end. Tip, put a little heat shrink tubbing on the left/right side of different colors. Saves about 1/2 hour of puzzle work at the field sorting them out. Good luck on the Liberty Sport. -Dale- 100% free webcam site! | Awesome chicks and it is absolutely free! | Watch free live sex cam - easy as 1-2-3 |

Flying wire mounts To the ones who know. My build this winter has funtional flying wires. Things have definatly changed from early 80's. The plans have the wires anchored to 1/16 cotter pins....... I find this hard to accept, specialy when I will have well over 100 hrs into the build before fly time. Creating hard points is no problem, my wuestin is, what do I use for mounting points for the wires. Is brass tabs going to be strong enough? that is what I have been thinking of useing. Any info would be great. Thanks Derrick |
