Indeed the cowl is a continuation of the fuselage and is not removable, it's also the motor mount block . For the covering I am using Monokote and I follow a bit the original colors (White, red and black) from Wolfgang Matt.

Nice build from magazine plans.

What did you do for a cowl? It looks like the cowl is a continuation of the balsa of the fuselage; I assume the cowl is removeable.

What are covering/paint are you considering.

no, this is a scratch build. The drawings I got from MAN. In the late 70's I used to fly this plane but than it was a kit from MK. I will use a OS65 with electric retractable gear. I am not gone use a tuned pipe like I did in my younger day's, lol... Next week I will start with the covering.
