Well i took your advice, took the plane up high and learned to fly it as slow as possible without stalling ,played around with elevator and throttle, i can now land it in less than half the runnway. Thanks for all you help. |

Re: Aeroworks Yak 54 Hard to land Probably a good bet. My Sukhoi is a tad tail heavy and it can land extremely slowly and in a very short space. Having it too nose heavy will definitely require you to keep too much speed. |

Re: Aeroworks Yak 54 Hard to land Manny, you just need to know how an airplane flys. Your throttle makes you go up and down. Your elevator makes you go fast and slow. Set that plane up to fly slowly - nose high and cut the throttle. Guaranteed, it will drop. Don't believe it? Take it up and cut the engine - kill it - and see if the plane stays in the air. If you want to livc on the edge, once you've done that, hold full up elevator and see what happens. Go high for this learning experience. Elevator controls speed and throttle controls altitude. In fact, you can use the elevator to get the plane so nose high that you need to constantly increase power (throttle) as the nose goes higher or you'll fall out of the sky. Come to think of it, that's exactly what those 3D planes do when they hover. Give it a try. That's how you'll get it sorted out - not by having someone else do it for you. Get a demo and then give it a go. |

Re: Aeroworks Yak 54 Hard to land I had the same problem with my 50cc Aeroworks Yak. It just floated on by and didn't want to land. My solution was to add some air brakes. Instead of flaps, I have both ailerons move up a few degrees on a switch. It solved the problem right away. I am not sure who suggested it to me but it worked great. I initially tested it out at about 50 feet or so to see how the plane would react. The plane started to drop down slightly and slow down a bit as soon as the switch was thrown. Brendan |

Re: Aeroworks Yak 54 Hard to land Me'thinks you should leave that CG alone for now (if in fact it is a bit n/h). Least ways till you get a bit more experience. |

Re: Aeroworks Yak 54 Hard to land Thanks for all your help fellows, i,m thinking that this plane should be slightly tail heavy right now the cg is set up where it is very slightly nose heavy. |

Re: Aeroworks Yak 54 Hard to land Engine may be idling to high and preventing the airframe to slow down enough for a comfortable landing. If you have a digital radio which I assume you do with that plane, set a very low idle on one of the switches for landings and taxi. |

Re: Aeroworks Yak 54 Hard to land Manny, Bring up to us, we will help you get it sorted. Rick's Yak ( same size as yours ) slows down so much it will litterally fall straight down once it gets slow enough. And man does it need to be slow to fall. He usually needs to keep a high idle to land to keep his speed from getting to slow. Never pay again for live sex! | Hot girls doing naughty stuff for free! | Chat for free! |
