Re: Precision Aerobatics at PM Hobbies!!

Don't have a bipe in the hanger yet. Was close to buying the AMR Ultimate, but the bandit caught my attention, and i went with it.
By the time i have enough cash for a AMR Ult, PA's new 57" Kantana will be out!!! Prior to my PA planes, my Sebart kantana 30 was my favorite. Been looking at other katana/funtana designs, but now i will wait for the PA version.

+1 on the PA service to Canada! I've bought an AMR ultimate from them and love it, i've placed orders with them 3 times now and its cheap shipping and fast....usually 5-7 days, and thats from Austrailia!
I've been eyeballing the Bandit also, let me know how you like it.

Re: Precision Aerobatics at PM Hobbies!!

I have the PA MX and the 260 and a 3dhs 71" e slick. 260 is fun. It's my beater. MX is fantastic. Slick wins by a hair, but it's bigger and I don't know if I had the next size smaller if it would it stand out. I love the PA construction.

I just ordered the new PA bandit on the weekend. I will let you know how is in two weeks.

As for PM, unless you local and are lucky (they actually have stock), I wouldnt waste my time on them. I placed an order, 2 out 5 items that we're in stock online, were not in stock. Asked when they would be restocking. They only get two shipments per year!!! They were nice about refund. No complaints about comms Or service, just like to deal with place that have stock.

Lastly, when i ordered the new bandit from PA, with all the goodies, and a couple addons for my others PA birds, I was a little worried as they dont tell you what shipping is at order time online. But they sent an email with the shipping cost, and did I still want it? The shipping was only $25 to Toronto!!! I paided more that for a lighter and less bulky order from PM.

I also orderd some props yesterday morning and got the shipping confermation in the afternoon. Can't wait to fly her,my hope is that it flys as good as or better than my slick and sbach(tall order).

Re: Precision Aerobatics at PM Hobbies!!

after some fine tuning i mst say this thng s a blast!

i propped down to a 14-6...just an old zinger i had around for about 20 years!! gotta go for another prop run to the big city...

peak input power is 1000watts and this thing is crazy! 4lbs even with 2x 3s 2200 Nano-techs. 10 minute flight times easy!!

the only thing i noticed is that the reccomended cg was way to nose heavy. slide the batts back an inch and that brought cg in good range.

Yeah, what Shawn said...haha!

Dirtdr, your setup sounds pretty sweet now with the power it has. I would just fly that. Sounds like a decent combo that is still fairly light!

Re: Precision Aerobatics at PM Hobbies!!

BigBreezes 3DHS 57" Extra has a Scorpion 3026-710 motor, Castle Creations Phoenix 80 ESC, Xoar 15x8 prop, a Western Robotics Hercules Super BEC, and Hitec 5245 servos though out. And as he said, the plane runs on 4s packs.
When I had the plane, I got 1100-1150 watts @ around 60+ amps if I recall correctly.
The plane came in light, around 4 1/4 lbs. or so, and flies freakin' AWESOME!! Only reason I sold it is I have the 72" version of that same plane, along with an 8s 71" Slick, and an 8s 65" Vyper (all 3DHS birds). With the 57" to big for park flying, for me anyways, it was only flown at my club field. In which case I found myself always flying the larger 8s planes, so the 57" wasn't being used so I sold it.
Sorry for getting a little off track here, but now you know, as Paul Harvey would say "The rest of the story".

Re: Precision Aerobatics at PM Hobbies!!

what power system is in that? i think i need to tone mine down a bit.

today i had a small fire in my PA. speed controller burnt up. this was about the tenth flight on this controller... 190amp controller on a 50 amp system... go figure...

i got to it soon enough before it burnt any balsa.... and then fitted a cc ice 85. after playing with settings to get rid of the squeal, i am getting 51amps 1140watts with a 15-8.

this is sick power on this airframe.. with the ice 85 now the weight is 4lbs 2oz.. I think this plane would be ballistic on 800 watts
