Re: F-100

Thanks Trevor. I reread this whole thread when I decided to get this plane. I read all the stuff over at RC Groups too. I was really taken by the Thunderbirds idea and in a typical moment of weakness (I have those a lot), decided to get it. I knew it had been properly built since Brian did it and all in all I got a good buy with servos included. One more to play with......

Hey Bob.

I dont recall if Buffy openned up the cheater hole, but this is a must! or youll starve the fan. I cut mine 2" rearward and gained a pound of thrust.

Picked up the Super Sabre yesterday!! I'll get the Thunderbirds stickers on it and put the drive train in. Other than that it has been built. Thank You " Buffy". I look forward to having both "Sabres" ready for the start of flying season. Unlike Trevor, my flying season starts when it is a little warmer.

Yup, that's the one. I have a HET 6 cell set up that I took out of the F-86 when I upgraded it to 8 cells. The F-100 won't be a rocket, but, that's OK.

Bob, that sounds like my F-100 that I sold to Ian in OS. Do you have a motor/fan/esc for it yet? I have my 80a esc, 1500kv motor and fan from my Starmax Alpha jet that I'm not going to use, all new. If your interested in it, I can let let you have it for a very low low price. PM me if interested.

Brian.

Re: F-100

I figured I might as well get this thread moving again. I have bought one of these from a chap who posted here on RC Canada. I have to pick it up yet. It's up in Owen Sound and I plan to drive up one day once I can be sure of good road and weather conditions. I'll make a visit to the Billy Bishop museum and kill two birds with one drive. I saw a thread on this plane over at RC Groups and the guy did his in Thunderbirds colours with vinyl graphics from "Callie" in New Mexico. I have already ordered a set to do mine. I am not pleased by my freehand painting of the Thunderbirds scheme on my F-4, looks pretty amateurish. I will use the 6 cell set up out of my F-86 since I replaced that with the 8 cell set up. I don't think this F-100 will be a rocket, but, should look pretty cool as a Thunderbird. The Super Sabre looks great in that livery. I am going to the post office today for my new fan and motor for the Panther and my new Park Flyer stuff got here for the F-86. Over the next few weeks I will bring some assemblies to completion and will have a Sabre, a Super Sabre, a Panther and the Phantom ready to go. A good group of the vintage jets I like. I might even finish patching the nose on the Grippen. The Hornet will move down the "to do" list and will wait until one of the others is used up. I'm not buying any more 90 mm fan/motor set ups. That leaves the Phase 3 F-16 and the little Hobby Lobby Mig, but, I am not too keen on the small ones. Anyway, come on summer. Hope you guys are well along with your winter builds.

Re: F-100

I closed the cheater and am using the duct as cooling air for everything. A vent puts air into the cockpit for the battery. The ESC is in a direct breeze too. The single elevator servo is in the rear ducting connected to the CF elevator connecting rod. The motor is enclosed in the A/B section with baffles to aid in cooling it. Tex.

Good Stuff Tex!

a prop jet you say... Seriously it will probley have far less problems as the fan wont constantly be starving for air. Are you allowing the air to flow throu the intake trunk and out the back or did you block that off.

Ill check the Stabs for you shortly and post a pick.

YES I still have the HUN. I just couldnt bring myself to sell it. Its just so dam sexy
