Re: 40% Edge Build (another)

Hey Trevor, the edge is flying well. Haven't been able to get any decent video. Maybe one of these days...
At 35 lbs its got tons of power even with a 3blade prop on it.
A have a few pics. Great fun to fly.
I have tried my hand at IMAC this season so been trying to set it up for that. Proving to be challenging as I started to build it before I even contemplated IMAC so its really a 3d freestyle plane. Big surfaces, high throws, durant, RE3s etc. But it flies great and at my level its just fine. Though I think there is a Carden Pro in my near future which I'll build for IMAC and the Edge can go back to what its best at.
Sadly, not looking good for Huckfest this year. Really hate to miss that weekend as its the best one of the year but I am going to Muncie for the whole week just before that so pretty much used up all my fun tickets.lol
Nice job on the Beaver by the way. Thats going to be a fun build. And radial vs turbo prop? Tough call but really can't go wrong either way. Look forward to seeing it come together.

Slick is awesome !!

I had a wing tip and side force generator leave my 60 cc Edge last week.
Like you wind was blowing the wrong way and is out 8 a field of chest high grass and brush.
Spent some time looking for it .... Nothing.
The only way I would have found it is if it went Crunch under one of my feet LOL

Re: 40% Edge Build (another)

Awesome, thanks Brad.
Flew off a fair bit down wind and the beans are chest high so not likely I'll be seeing it any time soon.
How's the Slick?

The CG marker on the plans is ultra conservative.
I'm sure you will still move it back further after you fly it a couple times

I find the 40% Edges fly neutral with CG set 1 1/4" behind the TE of the wing tube, so my guess is you'll want to move CG back a bit more like Brad said.

Congrats again!!

Thanks Guys, glad to finally have it done. I was worried about the CofG being too far aft with the Re3s and two servos in the tail and the airman tailwheel so started with the batteries mounted right up on the motor box. Should be safe where it is and easy to move the packs back which I will probably do.
Went with stock header length which is twelve inches as they come from Thunderbolt. As I recal from Trevor's testing that turned out to be optimal. Currently trying a Mej 28.5x12S 3 blade to keep it quiet but also have a Mej 32x10 Evo ultra light 2 blade to try as well.
