Sounds good Ed. I would have used a torch with Map gas and silver solder to hold the pressure fitting in place. I am still waiting for my Pitts muffler to show up but I will assemble the pressure fitting with the brass tube ahead of time.

Re: Tapping headers for smoke injector.

Thanks Trevor, not sure how I missed it.

I will try the epoxy I bought this time around. Looking forward to adding smoke to the airframe and playing around with the setup. Boys and there toys....

That being said, if you have oil or exhaust under your cowl and around your motorbox, you have bigger issues than gooey wood, LOL. I've yet to ever protect the wood on a plane. Maybe I should start in case of an accident.
I went to Great Hobbies at lunch and picked up the 20min finishing Epoxy, 3/32 pressure fitting and 3/32 brass tubing. This epoxy looks thinner than the 30min epoxy. I wonder if heating the epoxy for a seconds will make it run even thinner. I took a look on GH's website but I could not find the EZ Kote product you suggested. I will apply some epoxy around engine box and fuselage. If anything it may strengthen the joints and maybe allow the plane to take more abuse.

It's a good idea to seal the motor box and exhaust tunnel even if you don't have smoke. But yes smoke oil is messy and doesn't do the wood justice.

You can thin epoxy and brush it on. Works pretty good. There's a water soluble product I used on my last plane I built. I forget what it's called. If TBrum pipes up Im sure he knows what it's called. No stink, it's light and brushes on and dries fairly quick

Re: Tapping headers for smoke injector.

It was mentioned to me that smoke oil can cause havoc and it was recommended to apply a sealant to the motor box and fuse using epoxy. Does anyone seal the balsa around the engine area or inside the fuse and if so what do you use? I was looking at some epoxy but the manufacturer did not mention being fuel or oil proof.
