Re: How to test fuel bottle for leaks

Thanks Chuebner. Its a great tip. So far I've test two of my bottles successfully. Works easy and well.

Cheers.

Excellent tip - I used it this weekend and it worked very well.

Re: How to test fuel bottle for leaks

Well my 'method' was after installation. Use it to run a YS45. The engine pressurized the tank (the design of the engine puts about 8 psi into the fuel system) and a tank which worked fine on the bench spat its stopper and 10 oz of fuel into the plane. If in doubt Sulivan tanks work great. All others I have had have leaked at some time. Just my $0.02.

Re: How to test fuel bottle for leaks

Very wise decision to test before final placement. I have learned that lesson the hard way. I simply fill my tank with fuel (using a fuel pump) before putting it in the plane and observe what happens. Sure glad I did this a few weeks ago re. the plane I am putting together at the moment. The rubber stopper was defective and the tank was clearly leaking. Replaced the stopper and tested again - no problem. Cheers

How to test fuel bottle for leaks

Can anyone suggest how to test the fuel bottle for leaks before placing it at hard-to-reach places in your RC plane ?
