Re: Looking for ideas ...G26 issue.

hot compression is ideal but not always possible
small 2 strokes and plugs they are fussy like the man said sometimes a spark when out is no good when in the engine
oil residue will cuase weak spark and even cleaning wont help
soaking in acetone can sometime revive a plug but just keep a new one on hand
i have spent years on 2 stroke sled motors and have a drawer full of plugs
not sure why i dont toss em lol
dirtbikes are fussy too seems like premix does that
my 2 c
after u run it good and hot do another comp check
proper way is with throttle wide open
then compare with a cold number too
i bet yours ring is fine
mine can burn after hot wings tho

It's the small stuff for sure that leaves us geussing.
That's why I started the thread for everyone's ideas and points of view to pinpoint the cause of my troubles and maybe hopefully help someone else's too.
Thx.

Just a note about your compresion test. If I recall right it needs to be done on a hot engine. This is because everything needs to expand to proper size that it will run at. The test on a cold engine will be out a bit. If you can get it up and running again, test again before you change your ring. If it is ok then you saved yourself a bit of work on it and the new one you ordered will still be good in the future.

Your absolutely right ,I will do the next time I run it .
It will make a difference.
Thx.

Re: Looking for ideas ...G26 issue.

Well she's running !

I picked up a new spark plug, put on and took it out the garage.
i put the choke on full 2/3 throttle and i got a one kick.

I was smiling

Opened the choke , and it kept turning over and over like it did before
This time i put my thumb on the spark plug cap and BooM she went !

Well it needed a new plug , now i need a new cap and doing the compression test
told me that its going to need a new piston ring .

All this came from you guys and I thank you !

Going to London swap meet this weekend at least i won't need a new engine for the zero

thanks again,

KeV

Re: Looking for ideas ...G26 issue.

90 psi is enough(yes it is low) to run my money is on the ignition you can check the voltage of the spark quick and simple pull plug place in cap put your finger on the plug and ground the same hand to the grounding mesh on the outside of the plug wire ZAP ( turn by hand lol) this is all speculation but i have seen more semi faulty cdi's than bad motors . Keep us all posted

1 )You have ignition
2 ) you have fuel
3 ) you have compression ( Yes , you have compression , but it is very weak , it will run , but very hard to start, it,s not thats it nonexistent )
