Re: 1970's Engine Maybe to be really authentic I should install some of my old Kraft servos  My plan at the moment is to get it flyable for the spring and get a few flights on the old girl. If it survives then I'll look at striping the monocote and doing a little restoration. The top of the engine pod is beyond ever looking good again so I'll probably just fly it and have fun. I do wish I knew who the builder was.

Re: 1970's Engine Thanks guys. I had considered a plate. It could be done but it would be a whole lot less work just to drop the right engine in. This thing is in pretty rough shape. Lots of cracks around the engine pylon, and a couple holes in the sheeting. But someone put a lot of work into her so I'd kinda like to get her back in the air. But not put a lot of effort into it. Kip I will probably try to find an Enya around here just to confirm it fits. If it does I'll get back to you . Thanks again, Dave |

Re: 1970's Engine A K&B and a OS FSR .40 are quite a bit smaller than that, they were pretty popular then. I would think it was a .60, or at least a .45. The plate sounds good. A modern .46 to .55 is about as powerful as a preschneurle motor. |

Re: 1970's Engine I have an Enya 60III model 7033 complete with stock muffler and perry carb. The crankcase width is 1 14/32" and the bolt holes fit your dimensions. The engine is smooth, complete, not damaged and has good compression. If you are interested I will look up my cost which would be quite reasonable. Shipping would be about $15.00. |

1970's Engine I hope someone can help me out here. I bought an old Piranha Flying boat at a swap meet a couple years ago. It looks to have been built in the 1970's. Due to the plywood engine mounting plate I need to find the exact engine that this plane orginally had. The mounting hole spacing is 50 mm side to side and 20 mm fore and aft. This is the same spacing as a Webra 60 Blackhead but I found one and it is way to big to fit. So I think I am looking for a 40 size engine from 1970 with the same spacing. Any ideas? Thanks Dave |
