Re: Gerard McHale Memorial Jet Rally - Princeton, BC

Bart, I made it back just fine... I had it easy.

Nate and Ron only just arrived in Edmonton after leaving Princeton yesterday at 7pm after the new tranny was finally installed. Trip from hell.

They had to stop in Jasper to fix a broken bolt on the exhaust on the way (the guy over-torqued the bolt when they put the new tranny in.)

Probably the most expensive road trip ever.

Bart - if it's a wood Red Plane one it might be mine. Nate and Ron were packing my gear... hoping they didn't leave it out.

Well another Jet Rally finished. Thanks for all the pilots that came and flew all those flights. I just got home and haven't read through threads so if any questions etc. I will respond later..

BUT someone left a plane stand behind. I you can identify it we can 'talk'.

Thanks to everyone, including the weather.

That was a great time. It is sure nice to be back in the saddle again. I missed the last 2 or 3 events and barely got done in time for this one. Man there is nothing like the adrenaline of flying a new model. I think i would have spontaneously combusted if i was maidening that Firebird.

Thanks to every one for dinner on Friday, and thanks to Bart for all his work.

It would sure be nice to do one more day trip before the snow flies.

Yes it was a great weekend hanging with jet dudes and dudettes bob-o and i had a blast cooking for yal thanks too all the ladies for making salads etc. For the ribfest it was great to see 30 people sitting in a circle chowing down. Thanks to all the guys and ladies from out of province and country you made it a memorable one , this is gonna be tough to top I think besides a busted nose gear and some severely compressed habu's the rally was incident free.
We even got barticus's intro up ( I think it's been 2 yrs)

We had Gerards daughter out on Friday to check things out. And I I burned more kero than Paul did ( probably the most I've ever burned )

And Dean in our books you are the Man without your guidance none of us there would be doing as well as we are enjoy the print I believe all of us signed it.

Pics coming later

What a great event this was again! I will post more, but the people who took pictures will have more interesting posts. I'll just start by saying the weather on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (afternoon) was great for flying. The winds stayed down this year, and it was just overall a great weekend. The Ribfest was incredible, talk about a HUGE amount of food!
A big thanks to everyone for all their hard work, and a personal thank you to those of you who watched Ginger for me while I flew, she also had a great time!

No problem, got the glow fuel covered (again...) jeremy... I'll also have my 12x12 canopy. Never found the data safe, but I'm next to sure I've got one sitting free out int he garage somewhere. Might find it tomorrow.

One thing I'll put out there for everyone last minute... Anyone need a powermax canister or two? The camping store just down the road from my office has a dozen or so in stock. The price is around 10 bucks each, so not cheap like they use to be but they are available... I can bring a few cans up on demand if you post prior to 3PM Thursday.

I've got mine (it's not massive but has room) and should be ok in a pinch if you need to share it with the F-16.

Time to hit the sack, I am hoping to be there around 10-11 tomorrow (Thurs). Got three cases of Chills to throw in the cooler too. =) Also there is no way I am missing Jeremy's Firebird maiden. I've waited all season and whatever flight gods prevented it from happening until now...I thank.
