Do the windows go on the inside or outside of the sheeting? The plans do not specify. My guess is inside. Either way, what did you use to attach them? By the way - nice work!

That is the Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major or "corncob" which was used in the F2G-1 and F2G-2 "Super Corsairs", which are incredibly rare. As mentioned, they were a huge 4,360 ci engine used in the B-50 Superfortress, Stratofreighters, "Pregnant Guppy" and other multi-engine monsters. The P&W R-2800 was the primary Corsair engine for all other variants.

Whatever Corsair that engine came out of, there were only ever 10 built!! Appearantly some went on to become racers in the 40's and 50's. Very cool, thanks for sharing that!

The engine in the photo is a P&W 4360, used in B-50, and some modified Corsair variants.

Re: Unionville 8' Beaver build...

Thank you and I hope you have a successful maiden. The Taylorcraft is a really cool airplane, I'd love to try that H9 20cc.

I'll be posting back once I maiden the Beaver (could be a while with the way this spring is going!!)

Hey Dean,

I have been following your build (fantastic job!!) and have applied many of your tips to a smaller (.25) GP Taylorcaft Kit I am building, my first kit build and wanted to say thanks!
I am nearly done and hope to maiden it soon, I hear you on the Calgary weather! I would love to come see this Beaver in the air.

...and I'm happy to say that the finishing details of the Beaver are done! I finally got around to clear-coating the cowl, dummy engine and other painted areas, and cleaning up a little wayward paint here and there. It made a big difference to me...the paint looks even more matched now with a higher gloss finish like the covering has, and of course she's ready to fly after engine break-in and some decent weather.

Re: Unionville 8' Beaver build...

Thanks guys! It's a Top Flight kit designed for a Corsair, which was essentially a P&W "Double Wasp" - 2 Wasp engines, one in front of the other, giving 18 cylinders of enormous power. However, this dummy engine kit only shows the front 9, and truely looks like a Wasp 9 cylinder.
