Re: Planes for windy days

Wow a post that went in all directions and back straight again!

I dont have too much info, I did hear in the past that Bi planes may be good into the wind too (another modeler said). They have the drag which isnt helpful penetrating the wind but maybe he was commenting on tubulence or roll associated.

Maybe that was just bad info

Re: Planes for windy days

Try a plane called (Contender). A group of us started together and he built this plane and it just flew and flew in all types of days. After many years it started to come apart here and there, old age and stress finally did it in. If I am wrong please correct me so I do not give the wrong advice.

Re: Planes for windy days

The easiest plane for me to fly in a strong wind is my parkzone radian pro. It's gotten to the point that I don't like calm days. I also have a new plane. Great plane Kunai. The arf with motor was $140. It was easy to put together. It's not nearly as easy to fly as the radian pro but I don't expect to ever have a day too windy for it.

Re: Planes for windy days

I think Top Flight puts out a plane called Contender and it is in the 40 to 65 motor class with a 53.3" WS. I think in kit or ARF. When this plane sets down it is like glued down and the kit seems very rugged. But I am talking from the old world.

Peter I agree with you! Not sure Andy will remember the names of the planes?

Holy cow, this thread got weird So, Andy, have you decided which airframe might be the best choice for you to use on a windy day? Lol.

Great place to take it. The Never Ending Engine thread.

To be fair, the discussion was related to the original question and the OP explicitly said he was enjoying it.

I tend to agree with Merv, some good discussion with opposing views without name calling. I deleted my posts because I could tell some folks weren't enjoying it, but I don't believe that was the case with the OP. If it was, then I sincerely apologize.

Re: Planes for windy days

Apologies are in order here.

First - to the original poster as I think you got snowed under in some deep stuff. Sorry!

Second - to those I have offended with my posts. Sorry!

On thinking back though, we did air some strong and controversial things without resorting to the name calling that these threads sometimes degrade to.

My feeling is that if we all agreed all the time there would be a lot less learning going on and things would get pretty dull. The purpose of this site I believe is for discussion and discuss we did!

Have a good day! Merv
