Re: H9 The Beast 100cc Build

Hey Ken,

I noticed that you just finished a Beast build, I'm just finished up building the beast also...I have yet to madien it as I have a few minor details to go over and I'll also stock up on my man sized diapers for the maidien :P

I was hoping I could pick your brain on a few items related to your build, I followed Reza's build closley however I thought it would be nice to connect with someone local that's built / flown the same model.

Let me know

Cheers

Derek

Re: H9 The Beast 100cc Build

I was able to test the smoke on the beast today. Works GREATE!!! Nice thick smoke at full throttle!! I was also very surprised that I had almost no oil under the plane after running a full 32oz!!!

I think my problem was a combination of issues.
1. The tube was pinched too much.
2. I am running my pump off the RX. This means it gets 7v-8.4v. It is capable of running off of a 3s Lipo. This means it may not have been pumping enough even at full throttle due to the tube pinch.
3. The fact that I moved the nipple closer to the exhaust port did not hurt.

The only thing left to do is adjust the throttle mix to have it pump more at lower throttle position. The smoke was very thin (almost off) at low throttle positions.

I had someone video it. We did not get very much useful footage, but here it is!

Re: H9 The Beast 100cc Build

Did a second test of my smoke system yesterday. Still not getting proper amount of smoke!

I suspect I pinched the end of the tube to much. This was not allowing a sufficient amount of oil to come out. I also may have had the nipple location to far away from the exhaust port (not sure). I also did not like the coiled idea because it seems that when you turn off the oil, it keeps sucking out the oil that is in the 32" of brass tubing I used for the coil. This means the smoke takes far to long to stop.

Tonight I removed the coiled tube and simply installed a nipple. I also moved the nipple closer to the exhaust port. I am hoping this will now produce the billowing cloud of smoke will all LOVE!!! I will test it tomorrow and try to get someone to video it for me.

Those are SIG pumps. I made up the boxes. I posted the build and parts list earlier in this thread. The build starts here https://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/show...191016&page=12
