The DHC-2 Beaver is still under construction and is a longer term project. Hopefully she gets to fly before the snow arrives!

Few guys have already built AN-225's models, one fellow out in Europe had russian shuttle "Buran" on top of his 225 as that's why this aircraft was built for. Russian version of NASA's B741 SCA but 4 times bigger!
A nice guy out in Kamloops, Martin Hunter, has built and flown a 126" ANT-20 a few years back. I saw it fly, very cool, with only little CDRom motors and GWS props! He is a great guy, and I'm sure would be willing to help with any Q's if you had any. Here the link on RCGroups. Videos near the end....

I would like to do a Giant Hercules in electric as well. I think I just tracked down some plans for the 130" Palmer C-130! woohoo....

It's much smaller than the Henry Haffke design (1/6th scale I believe). It appears Brodak is re-making the kit now:

The one I'm building is a Pat Tritle design with a wingspan of 32" (about 1/9th scale).

A small brushless outrunner with about 60W of power should suffice. That should meet my target of 80w/lb for nice scale flight.

The original 1955 design was powered by a .049 to .15 engine.

Sometimes there isn't demand to produce a full kit. At least a short kit gives the opportunity to allow some less than mainstream models to be mfg'd.

I have several of Pat Tritle's short kits that are beautifully designed. I just had to buy commonly available dimensional balsa stock:

- Clipped wing Taylorcraft
- GeeBee Model D
- Ultimate Bipe 22" WS

They all fly really nice.

Still have this need for Gee Bee's only larger now and love the Model Y's. Have an 82" with countless flights on it and an 84.5" flight ready as a backup until I finnish the 97"

Sounds like a short kit to me, but why sell short kits in this small size is beyond me...

Reproduction of the 1955 Berkeley Beaver kit. It has a 48" WS (1/12 scale) and is configurable for RC, FF, and CL.

The short kit was purchased from Dan Walton @ Laser Technologies. It's far from a complete kit as I had to fabricate the wing spars and numerous small pieces by hand. The cowl was not included either so I will have to build from scratch as well.

Still lots more to go!

Re: Whats your next major project....

Need to get back to my 1/4 scale Balsa USA Cub kit. I've got the fuselage about 75% finished and the tail feathers another 75%. Haven't even started the wings yet.

It'll probably sit in the shop until fall/winter and then I'll get back at 'er.

Assembling a Hobbistar 60 MK III, with flaperons, bolt down wings and an OS 55AX.
