Re: Trimming for IMAC question.

But ya got me thinking (that alone could be a problem!) How about like the variable rate steering in a car but opposite, fast in the center, but slow on the outside!!

(just kidding!)

Re: Trimming for IMAC question.

No, I wouldn't do that!. Just work on the throws, expo and rates.

Rick, your not going to mess with servo speed are you?

Hi Brendan! I don't want to derail the OP's thread on trimming but I'm going to rely on the idea that the judges for the Worlds are going to know the rules about roll rates LOL. My full deflection roll rates are certainly not very fast so I hope I will be OK.

Rick,
Hope you get your health figured out. We missed you at the Keswick IMAAC contest.

Re: Trimming for IMAC question.

I do have the throw setup recommendations from Alan Brace, I believe it originally came from Ivan Kristensen.

My problem will be unlearning the way I fly. I have always setup my planes very tight around the center of the stick, I don't think I use more than half the deflection range of the stick(s). I really don't move the sticks much.

I must say that trimming as per Peter Goldsmith does make a world of difference! I have two 30cc planes (I know, very small compared to what you guys are flying) but the plane I have trimmed as per Peter flys so much better! and I'm only part way through the process due to health and other reasons.

But I guess I'd better slow the throws down!

Gordon:

We have noticed that the Americans roll very slowly on the horizontal lines. Our thinking is that slow rolls is what they will be looking for so we are moving in that direction. Next weekend will be my third American contest this year (Jackson Michigan) so I will be watching carefully and trying to fly more their style.

Re: Trimming for IMAC question.

In order to have a consistent roll rate I have my aileron travel set up so that I use full stick deflection to do horizontal rolls. I use less than full stick movement in the ninety degree rolling turn.
