Re: Hinge Tool Conversion

I did the same thing with a 6 volt drill that the four 1.5 volt batts took a dump. I wired it up with a Mini Deans and use a 7.4 volt lipo from my small planes velcroed to the side of the handle. Very handy out at the field for repairs.

Re: Hinge Tool Conversion

Hi,

No trigger and there wasn’t enough room for the 9V. I soldered a new plug to it and its working with a Lipo (7.4V/300mAh).
Noticed blade screws were really loose, very important to use tread-lock and let set for a couple of hours.
Pays to read the instructions carefully, LOL!

Thanks...

Thanks Nick, Cougar

The 9V is a great idea, for the amount of times I'll be using it and it won't be hanging out the tool.

Re: Hinge Tool Conversion

If that is the hinge cutter with the trigger activated two blades I converted mine to a 9V alkaline. It slides into the back behind the motor and the plug wires are long enough to allow for the battery to be slid out and unplugged.

IMO there is enough life in each battery to last one job or more.

Re: Hinge Tool Conversion

Would the 460mAh battery do or should I go higher?

Hinge Tool Conversion

Good day,

Still leaning about battery requirement, could you help?

The original owner had converted it to run on a battery (lipo); would the HK’s Rhino 460mAh 2S 7.4v 20C Lipo Pack (see photo) do the trick, it’s cheap at $4.67?

I’m curiosity as to what type of plug this is? I used a meter to determine the on-off position and check for any shorts; so I’ll just replace the plug with a proper mate for the new battery.

Thanks…

Michael
