as for your system its going to be way over powered. which isnt a bad thing you can use good trottle management and keep your flying times up alot.

that plane would be nice with a 750-800 kv motor on 4s or a 600-700 on 5s so a 500kv on 6s could be ok. just make sure your within the amps specs of the motor/ speed controller and your fine.
Thanks for the great calculator. Yes it will be overpowered. I can also try it out on 3s with this motor http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...50kv_785w.html it will be little under powered but lighter.

Sports is not 2:1 T2Q.... this is more like model rocketry.

IMHO, sounds like it's time to open the wallet and get what you need, rather than trying to make what you have work.

Small steps give better progress rather than trying to make the great leap.

Sounds to me like you're trying to compete in the pole vault at Olympic levels without the neede training and experience.

That's my humble opinion.

I understand you have had 'bad luck' with balsa planes but a foamy and a balsa plane of the same size, shape and weight will fly exactly the same. You will also find that a bigger plane flies better. If you are really concerned, get the club instructor to check the plane over and do the maiden flight for you. I think the plane pictured in your post looks great and I would say go for it and don't let the "balsa vs. foam" thing get in your head. Go For It!

Hey Sam, thanks for the kind words, I just have had bad luck with balsa planes over the past 2 years, everytime i flew a balsa plane I ended up crashing it beyond repair. This happened to my Trojan, Cirrus Turbo, and Cessna

So I am a bit scared to go back to balsa, maybe at the end of the summer once I am more confident I will venture balsa again.

Need advice on buying this aricraft

Hi guys, I have been thinking of moving up in size to the 1600mm class and I have been looking at this airplance for a while now:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...50mm_ARF_.html

I want to run it on 6s with this motor http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...or_1100w_.html

few questions:
1- is this a good choice for someone coming from mostly 1100-1400mm foamies.
2- what size prop should i be looking at for this motor on 6 s
3- how many minutes of flight time would a 2200mah 6s provide?

Thanks
Sal
