Re: NEW Aeroworks 100cc Ultimate !!!!!!!

Hard to believe it has been almost three years since it's release. The Ultimate is number one on my short list. If I get one it will be powered by my DA120 with RE2's.

I second that. For 1200$ you would think it would come with a carbon gear. It is definately a great looking plane though...nicest ultimate on the market imho. If i was looking for an IMAC ride, I would get something else...30lbs is too much once you get up into intermediate and advanced imho. My 260 in my display picture is 41.7 lbs with a DA170 on standard mufflers. It has good uplines but it is getting a set of RE3's and a diet this winter.

I had the 100cc QQ Pitts Bipe and just loved it! As you mentioned Brad, nothing beats a Bipe for Knife Edges!... effortless!

This looks like a real nice plane!!

Go for it Brad!! Go for it!!!

Ed,
i think it would make a good IMAC ship as electric.

The 50cc I had and like Rolly had were one piece wings. No longer to set up than a 40 or 60 size plane.
This new 100cc has 2 piece wings. Be interesting to see how long it takes to assemble.

Thanks for the reply Brad and I know what you mean about decisions I've had my share of them and like you said something else always comes up. I just noticed in your post about the wing area of your plane and thought it would be a good choice for an electric 50cc size plane because of the big wing area to carry the extra load of 4 batteries to complete 2 IMAC sequences safely.

Re: NEW Aeroworks 100cc Ultimate !!!!!!!

Hi Ed,
I had read your post last night before you editted it. I had typed out a response this morning around 2 am. But lost my reply to you.

You were asking my thoughts on the Ultimate.
I loved my 50cc version. I am still kicking myself for selling it
But you know how it is, you want to try different things and sometimes something else needs to be sacrificed.

Comparing how a bipe flies to a mono wing is a tough comparison.

I always tell people, Either you love them or you hate them. Myself, I love bipes. Always have. Especially Ultimates. I have owned 4 different sizes and liked every one.

Good Bipes fly great. But they do fly different than mono wings.
In the case of the Aeroworks designed 20-300's. They have a slightly stretch tail moment. They track like they are on rails. You can knifeedge all day long and do Knifeedge circles until you run out fuel with a great big smile on your face.
Rolls are very axial. Hammerheads, with that big rudder are beautiful.

My only complaint with the Aeroworks designs are the rear swept landing gear. They are strong, no issue there. They look great.
But the wheel axle is back close to the CG. taxiing on a rough field or with long grass can be a challenge. At least it was for the 50cc.
My other complaint with Aeroworks 50cc Bipes, and now their 30cc planes. Is there is no provisions for the use of cannisters or pipes. This new 100cc does

Cheers

It sure looks like a nice plane alright, shipping would probably be a killer on three big boxes.

Re: NEW Aeroworks 100cc Ultimate !!!!!!!

My 50cc version was 19lbs. It wasn't an issue.
It had almost 2000 sqin of wing area where most other 50's have around 1600.

This one has 2650 sq in. The Carden edge i am building is 1970 sq in.
It should fly just fine
