How many flights have you put on yours to date?
If I took it easy, I could likely get 8 minutes also, but that's no fun!!!!

I've probably got 50 flights on it so far - 6 or 7 on the 10S configuration and the rest on 12S set-up. It still floats so well and 3D's great!

So far so good!!!

My favorite set-up in this Yak is on 12S-5000 and spinning a JC 24x16. I fly around at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle and it literally catapults out of a hover with full power. At full power, this combo pulls 160Amps. I do 6 min flights and put back 3800 - 4300 mAh!!

Next favorite is 10s-5000 spinning a JC 26x16... It flies a bit lighter with similar burst Amps, but I can only do 5 min with the same mAh draw!!

My motor and ESC using both set-ups is barely warm

My beef with these electric systems is the 6 min flight times!!! Insane power though!

Ya... I think I will Chris! 12S-5000!! Plus, it's a good way to see if I can keep the firewall on the plane. If the firewall can hold on for the ride, I'll buy more Extreme Flight planes in the future!!

Now I've got an electrified 35% Lightened Carden Edge on the brain - say 12S-8000 batteries with the A80 and the X-170 ESC!!!!

Re: 50cc Extreme Flight Yak - ELECTRIFIED!!

What a beautiful day today in Burlington!! It was +5°C, no winds and the golf course beside my house is perfectly dry!!! (it's hole #5 - par4 - 432yards!!)

Anyways, I got 12 flights in today with the EF Yak on both 10S and 12S - I'm honestly blown away by the power of the Hacker A80!! After 3 successive, 7min flights, the A80 measured 81°F only (barely warm) and the Spin 170 Esc was not warm at all!!! My batteries, were warm at 106°F, so nothing to worry about!

My thoughts:

12S-5000 LiPo w/ JC 24x16 wood prop is THE BOMB!!! Incredible power (it must be close to a DA85!!) and the extra weight of the additional 2S is unnoticeable for my rookie fingers! 7 minutes in the air (8min by the time I taxied out and back) burned 3600mAh. Max Amps = 138A.

10S-5000 LiPo w/ JC 26x16 wood prop is a very nice alternative and almost as much power as the 12S system. It doesn't fly as fast as the 24x16 on 12S and I found I was up in the throttle a bit more. 7 minutes in the air (8min total for taxiing) burned 4280 mAh as proof!! This combo feels like a DA50 on a tuned pipe!! Very impressive, but not the rocket power of the 12S system!!

Max Amps = 141A.

Now it's time I log some serious flights!!

Yep... I got them aircraftinternational.com and they are gas props, but with the crazy pitch options, they are incredible... They almost look like a Menz!!!

On my maiden flight, the HackerA80-10 was spinning a 26x12 and I found (as per what Chad mentioned) that airspeed was low and I was up above 1/2 throttle to get speed and it wasn't capitalizing on all it's torque.

I'll first try the 26x16 on the same 10S packs. I'll likely fly at way lower throttle position and my guess is that I'll be running in the 170Amp range on max power! The prop may be too big for this motor!

The 24x16 may be comparable in Amp draw to the 26x12.

Hopefully Sunday afternoon I can get out and test the props!!

The conversion looks straight forward enough after following yours, but I am wondering about the thrust-line for an electric motor. Any comments about what might be different from the gas engine thrust line?
I set the electric up the same as the gas and it seems to fly the same with no difference with the mixes, etc. I need to put more time on it though before I can tell for sure.

Perhaps someone else can comment?

Cheers
