Re: Spitfire Mk IX more pics...you can see the left aileron drooping in the shot coming in over the trees.Once the gear and flaps were down she was quite stable.I have a RAF pilot ,but hes sitting out the first flights.. ...was a great day.. |

Re: Spitfire Mk IX Well I got the maiden flight in on Sunday,needless to say it was a fine day indeed.Had a couple of issues,the first was an aileron hinge cotter pin that somehow slipped out(guess I never bent the ends),which made for some quick opposite aileron trimming.The second is the 3W-85 was running a bit hot after about 5minutes of flight time so I dropped the gear and flaps and brought her in.I'll work on the baffleing some more to get it to run cooler,maybe open up the cowl underneath a bit more. I was working on the landing gear so the gear doors were left off for the maiden.. |
