Wow. Simply gorgeous flying shots. After all that work, its nice to see the payoff in such a beautiful model in the air!

I congratulate you on a successful maiden flight!

Re: Spitfire Mk IX

That is a beautiful build! I have much respect for you guys who build scale models. It takes a lot of dedication and patience to pull off something that looks and flies that nice in scale detail.

Re: Spitfire Mk IX

more pics...you can see the left aileron drooping in the shot coming in over the trees.Once the gear and flaps were down she was quite stable.I have a RAF pilot ,but hes sitting out the first flights..
...was a great day..

Re: Spitfire Mk IX

Well I got the maiden flight in on Sunday, needless to say it was a fine day indeed.Had a couple of issues, the first was an aileron hinge cotter pin that somehow slipped out(guess I never bent the ends),which made for some quick opposite aileron trimming. The second is the 3W-85 was running a bit hot after about 5minutes of flight time so I dropped the gear and flaps and brought her in.I'll work on the baffleing some more to get it to run cooler, maybe open up the cowl underneath a bit more.
I was working on the landing gear so the gear doors were left off for the maiden..
