Re: LX SU47 twin 70mm build

Made a few flights this week and it is still as exciting as the first flights!
It tends to have a mind of its own below half throttle in turns, often turning out of whichever direction is intended but at higher power flies like on rails. The TV also bites on takeoff if any excessive inputs are made but the trick is to have plenty of speed and not lift off too slow. Landings are almost anticlimactic as it floats in and lands nose high. Enough that my little tailwheel gets regular use. The nose gear mounted landing lights are an added bit of realism on approach.
Good fun!

A pair of landing lights were added to the nose gear using 6v LED bulbs powered by the radio power. The BEC voltage was selected to 6v to get maximum brightness.

Re: LX SU47 twin 70mm build

We made a few more flights today and I think it is pretty well dialed in. Takeoffs are made with 1/2 flaps by winding up the motors with brakes on, then releasing them for a quick takeoff. Plenty of vertical performance for typical aerobatics. Some TV loops and spins were done with fairly predicable recoveries. Not as stable as the FW Eurofighter but fun none the less. The two fans are the quietest pair I have heard to date. Typical 4 minute flight draws about 3200mah from our 5500 6S pack. Landings are made with full flaps and some power on as the plane slows rapidly with no thrust. I am really glad to have made this model and am happy the earlier quirky flights didn't do any serious harm. With the right CG, and control trims this plane flies fairly decent. I do understand why many or most had bad luck with this kit as the instructions lack many important details.
Took a couple pictures beside the FW A10 for comparison.
