Nice flying Rick, looks like you have a great setup, nice and slow even in the down lines check out the link.

It just seems to magically stay at the top of the circle with very little line tension. It's a hoot to fly.

Nice flying Paul!

Re: electric control line

We flew the 3 mm Gee Bee at the Simcoe triple gym Catholic high school where I THOUGHT the ceiling lights were higher. I kept doing increasing higher angles in wing overs while others tried to judge the clearance.
It appears we need about 5 cm more ceiling height as that is how much is now missing from my wingtip !
I was happy just to do loops & horizontal eights & inverted after that.
It is a fun toy, easy to fly & is something different at our indoor flying sites, although I have to get all the R/C 's to take a break when I fly.

One of my dads first flights!! lights can get in the way.. cautious in the loops.

Pattern? Could you actually make out some sort of maneuver in there? I guess my flying is getting a little better after all.

For me, any decent attempt at a complete stunt pattern has a long way to go yet. I guess you could say I'm practicing parts of the PAMPA Old Time Stunt Pattern. It's a little easier to learn without the challenging triangle, hourglass, and cloverleaf.

I hope to get there eventually.

Re: electric control line

The paint is "Faskolor", a water based paint for Lexan & other surfaces. I only used it as I had it on hand, it doesn't attack foam but takes two coats.
I actually spent more time trying to paint the model than building it !
If I learned anything it is that you cannot mask depron foam & brush on a thin paint !! I use a high quality blue fine line masking tape 1/4 ' wide, but no matter how hard the tape is pressed down & how light a coat is applied the paint works under it & makes a mess, obviously because the foam is not a smooth surface
I eventually just left the blue tape on to cover the jagged edge & fortunately it looks like a trim color
Spraying a dust coat to seal the edge would have worked & then follow with a second light coat, but I didn't feel like doing all the masking. As it turned out , it would have been quicker !

It turned out to be 5 mm depron. The mistake wasn't noticed until the model was completed, I appear to now have a slightly overweight indoor C/L model. (900 mm span] It weighs 149 gms without electrics installed. I will fly it anyway
It was good building practice for when I find 3 mm depron
Looks great, Richard!

Hey- what did you use for colouring? Particularly the red. Is that paint or brushed or what?

Yeah. I agree with Frank. Give it a shot, Richard.
