Re: what scale is it Keep in mind that Cubs wingspans could be a little deceiving, some copied the clipped wing version, if checking for scale, you may have to look a little closer and as Sam suggested, measure the fuse and a few other parts, don't just go by the wing span in comparison. |

Re: what scale is it This how I get scale down measurements to get the scale I want to build a model from scratch or in this case to find out it's exact scale. Actual Specs of piper J3 Cub http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piper_J...8J3C-65_Cub.29 Length: 22.5 feet W/Span: 35.3 feet Height: 6.8 feet To get 1/4 scale measurement, I divide length of fuselage by the scale "Number" I want it to be. In this case 22.5 divided by 4 gives me: 5.625 (5.6') feet in length for a model. To make it sure, I then multiply 5.6 x 12 = 67.5" .....this way I'm sure my calculations are fine and 1/4 model of Cub will be 5.6' or 67.5 inches in length. I do same calculations for wings, stabilizers and fin yo get accurate measurements for scale downing purposes.... You can use same method to get any scale desired simply by dividing the actual lengths by the number of scale model you want to build or fond its scale for already made models, be them rc, static display or kit build ones. |

Re: what scale is it a 1/5 scale sig has a wing span of 84 inches, a goldburg anniversary has 76.5 inches considered a 40, and a great planes 60 cub has 90 inches, so my question was what scale are the 40 and 60 size cubs? 1/6, 1/7? |

Re: what scale is it Michel, If you are talking about 2 stroke glo/nitro engines, at .40, most likely 1/5 scale and, at .60, most likely, quarter scale. See....http://www.sigmfg.com/cgi-bin/dpsmar...ftF.html?E+Sig.....and, on the right hand column, click on 'aircraft, r/c kits' and then 'scale kits' the J-3 Piper Cub is one of the most frequently model r/c planes and people a variety of powerplants (2stroke and 4 stroke glo and gas as well as electric) as well as sometime "overpowering" their J-3 to do aerobatics that would be possible by the full scale plane. good luck Michael |
