Re: feather shaft blade 400 So far so good. The shim behind the oring is working great. The oring is holding out and the assembly is still tight. |

Re: feather shaft blade 400 Well I hate to say it, but I couldn't find the part number for the washers that I have. I found the washers, but I ripped the tag off of the bag. I thought I had left it there. Sorry about that. All I can say is that the washers are almost exactly the same size as the shims, but about as thick as about 7 washers. They're really quite thick. I personally never really had a problem with the dampers wearing out all that much, although they would get wrecked pretty easily in a crash. I would suggest going to your LHS and take a shim with you to measure. As long as the inside hole is the same size and the outside diameter is close to the same, it shouldn't be too hard to find some nice thick washers. Sorry I can't be of more help. Darren |

Re: feather shaft blade 400 I think the rubber o-ring gets pushed right into the head and wears rapidly. It doesnt matter how many shims I was putting in it was still sloppy. Finally nice enough weather to test the shim "behind" the rubber o ring. I'm a rookie flyer but its solid, tight and responsive. I will run a few more batteries through it and see what kind of shape the oring is in at that point. Replace the o rings and do it again. I heard its normal for them to be replaced after 10good flights. |

Re: feather shaft blade 400 Well if it's the aluminum head, you may just need more shims in there as well. I'm actually on the road right now and won't be home till tomorrow evening, but I'll see if I still have the part number for the washers that I bought for my head when I get home. It made a big difference for me. I think that they are a "DuBro" washer that I found at my LHS. Put one of those on either side and you won't need as many shims to keep things just right. Darren |

Re: feather shaft blade 400 thanks Rob, I was out buying the new truck. Yes all aluminum. And I did find that the rocker arms on the grips were tweeked a bit giving me the pitch problems. Until I took the grips off it was not noticable. I was told to remove the shim behind the rubber o ring that I put in there. I'm going to try it and see how it works.Waiting for the nice weather. I heard we are getting snow tonight. lol |

Re: feather shaft blade 400 I have been helping Craneman with this issue and he has all aluminum parts. |

Re: feather shaft blade 400 Are you using the stock plastic head or do you have any of the upgraded aluminum parts? I have the aluminum head block and the aluminum blade grips and found that they are a slightly different size than the stock plastic ones. Hence things seemed a little loose, I had to put a lot of shims in there to make it right. In the end I found a couple of small washers that were almost perfect. Those with 1 shim on each side made everything just right. Darren |

Re: feather shaft blade 400 I know with my HK stuff I sometimes need to do a little extra engineering myself. Main thing is check it good and if nothing is out of place then you may have to shim. Just have to find out how to make it work. |

Re: feather shaft blade 400 so I put a shim behind the rubber washer in the head to see the effects. Is this a big no no? It has stiffened the feather shaft right up and still is allowing the blades to tilt left and right. It looks good and feels good. |
