The ailerons on this Lanier are HUGE... pretty much 33% of the airfoil. I'm sure thats why they set it up with 2 servo's, but 5645's ganged would be well more than enough...

John... even (1) 5645 on each aileron for a 50cc sized bird is lots!! No need to go HV or high torque! Just my opinion though.

There was a day when a 5645 was treated as overkill - again just my opinion, but I feel we've become obessed with torque in the past few years (me included!!)

My first 50cc had one 5625 on each aileron and it flew like a charm, roll rates were awesome, etc. Elevators would be more than fine with a 5625 or 5645!!

Cheers

Re: 4 servo wing setup

Hi John, I used a smartfly EQ6 for the setup. An overkill yes, but the setup with the EQ6 for ganged servos is about as easy as it gets. I gave up trying to use the balance feature on my 12X as it forced me to use certain channels that I needed.....

You can find a standard EQ6 used for $150 typically on RCU (I just bought one for $150 shipped with engine cutoff), and I have seen them on RCC as well for a bit more.

As for the servo, ganged Hitec 5645's (140 - 165oz) would be more than enough.

Hi

I agree whole heartedly , with a single servo , and what was mentioned . This is an old ship and technology has change , a whole lot .

There is one question though , ailerons being the length of the wing , and how it is hinged and /or what they are made of , does it make a difference ? The design does have it set-up for two servos , to even the load on the ailerons . Just a questions .

ailerons and elevators don't need more than a 7985 in the torque dept.

That being said. The newer 7954 has the same torque as the 7955. Is fully HV rated and is only a couple dollars more than a 7985 but less than the 7955.
Good investment if you want to move them to another ( bigger ) plane later on.
Yes and an insanely high speed of .o8 seconds I believe.

Hobby Wholsale is selling them for $89.00 I think.

I am contemplating themfor the Hiperbipe as the control surfaces are smal compared to a 35% Carden. The ailerons are like a strip aileron on a trainer. I need 4 servos as that ids the weay it is setup so there are no linklages beteen the ailerons.

What model # of Hitec High Voltage were you loking at?

You can easily use 0ne (1) HS7955TG per wing panel.

Re: 4 servo wing setup

Hi

It,s still very simple with youre A9 .

When you press , " New model " , it will ask you what , " Wing Set-Up " . You will press , 2 Ailerons . The radio will designate channel 5 as youre second ailerons . But you have 4 servos , ( Right ) . You still have channels 6-7-8-9 .

1 ) new Model
2 ) enter the name of that said model
3 ) chose ACRO than select ( press yes )
4 ) Press 2 ailerons , than press set
5 ) tail type , press normal , than press set
6 ) Single engine , press set
7 ) do you have retracts ,........... press NO
8 ) air brake ,............... NO
9 ) Fuel mixture ,............... NO

Now the next page that comes up you will see that , " AILE : J1 , and if you look at channel 5 , it,s says AILE : J1 . Channel 5 is now an aileron .

Now press , " YES "

Now to designate the second servo for each aileron .

Press channel #6- AUX 1 , than press select , than press , " AILE " , ( not aile 2 ) .

Now the page in front of you shows that channel # 6 is now J1 , and that is ailerons .

On this same page press channel #7 , and press AUX 2 , and press select , now you can press , AIL2 . Now channel #7 is also J1 .

Excite the program , top right hand corner , three times , and than you are on the front page , with youre model name .

You are ,................ DONE

Sure hope this helps ,

This is definitely the easiest radio to program . Thats why I bought it . I,m still an analog type of guy myself .
