Re: Freewing F-14 Tomcat

Let me know guys if any of you consider selling your F-14
I used to fly FW Su-35, and enjoyed it very much.

Re: Freewing F-14 Tomcat

Hi All

Just joining in on this thread, as I have flown my Motion RC F-14

FFFAAAANNNTTAASSTIC!!!!

Although it is a little more involved with flying, than the Skymaster F-14, She performs awesome with the stock system.

Like Pete mentioned, be very careful on the area where the ball link joins with the swing mechanism. If it too tight, this area will break. They should of used metal instead of plastic.

Flew it the other day in 40Kts cross wind and actually performed well considering the size.

She has a tendency in pitching up when you add power. I might have some incidence adjusting here, but it is nothing to really be concerned about.

I did though use The Thunderpower 5000mah 6s 70c batteries, which makes it a little nose heavy, but gives me a bit more flying time than the 4000 from Motion.

Hope some of this helps.

Re: Freewing F-14 Tomcat

Heads up on a safety issue.

Today I cycled the wings a few times when I noticed that one of the ball links was loose on the metal rod.

I ended up replacing the ball links that mount to the wing and glued them in. Looks like the fit is very loose.

See pictures below.

Re: Freewing F-14 Tomcat

Not sure about where the Receiver goes but I think there is a Spot at the end of that mess of wires. It has a built in 8amp UBEC to power everything up. It looks to me like you need 7 Channels. It has some kind of mixing Board. I will probably use one of the new Spektrum 7 or 9 Channel AS3X Receivers, built in 3 axis stabilization. I think I'll wait for the New Year to see what new products might be coming out and see if our crazy Dollar will come back.....hate wasting mula....and Marie told me to Cool it.....Sled season is fast approaching

Thanks Rick
One more question, where does the receiver go and do I need a receiver battery?

Look on right side of Box, mine has a Dot in the Upgrade Circle and a Dot in the PNP......Then you have to trust that they have installed the upgrades. Also you should have 2 EC5 plugs one for each Battery, that is the real give away.
