Or worse...come apart after startup and shrapnel in the pits!...best to get a new one on there and tell "Blimp Man" to stay out of the snow banks

Still need a map for the guys to find your snow fly on the 19th

I'll be willing to bet real money it's snow. I have seen his off runway antics....

the prop is showing signs of wear like that, it could be just waiting to self distruct, and you dont want to be near it when it does. Ever fly a wooden prop on a float plane? the spray will shred it, water (and snow) are very hard on wooden props.

I looked at our local hdwr stores, can't seem to find any fence post cover, got a foot or two you could sell me?

Yes ice could cause that wear.

On full scale jets volcanic ash in the air caused wear on turbine blades and crazing on the windows, but they fly a bit higher than your freinds plane.

Ice crystals kicked up in the prop wash? It does kick up a lot of snow.

What about if the tips go super sonic and produce a shock wave along the leading edge?

Maybe some grit has found its way into his prop wash .

prop wear pattern

I noticed an unusual? wear pattern on Ricks prop yesterday, he's running a DLE55 on his Ultra SPAD Stick.
I don't remember the brand, but it is a wood 22x10-6 with square tips.
We noticed the leading edge of the tips about 2 inches, look like they were sanded flat, no obvious dings or impact marks.

Rick and I fly identical airplanes, except I fly a CRRC 40cc with a zinger 20x10 pro scimitar, my prop isn't showing any unusual wear.

Any thoughts????
