Re: Cannister exhaust and rpm drop

A 23x8 Mejzlik is a good combonation. Will, if I recall Doug and the others are using and like it on thier DL55's. I will have to double check and post back.

No, I haven't had the chance to try something different.

Re: Cannister exhaust and rpm drop

I only had the prop rip once on a full throttle pass with a tail wind.
Other than that the prop doesn't rip.
I don't plan to use a Vess. It will be a Xoar 22A. On a previous plane last summer, I was running a 23x8. When i tried a 23A, it loaded the motor considerably more than the 23x8.
I thought the 22A might load the motor a bit more than the 22x8.

That is part of the problem, your prop is ripping.
The 22A is going to be even worse in terms of noise and if it is a VESS prop, those are great but VERY NOISY.
You may want to try a Mejzlik 22X10 or a Mejzlik 23X8. Three blade props are very quite but I don't like the performance. If your plane is under 16lbs the 3 blade prop might do the trick if it is over that, don't even bother.

Will

Either way you go, they will be quieter. If you get a chance, try a 3 blade, as they make a huge difference (stock exhaust or not).

Re: Cannister exhaust and rpm drop

I have heard of some people having issues (cracks, breaking, etc) with the stock header that comes with the canister (not sure if one comes with the can your looking at). So you may want to upgrade the header, just something to keep in mind.
