Re: Fuel problem

Thanks Peter I was looking into the Festo products as others had suggested. Found it a bit confusing. I was also in a bit of a rush. I found a Sullivan check valve I had bought a while back and did not use it then. Thanks again, Glenn

Re: Fuel problem

I would look for a check valve from a weed eater or ice auger and mount it as close to the carb as possible. That would keep the fuel in or very near the carb. Just my 2cents.

Re: Fuel problem

What you really want is an All Metal On/Off valve! Festo fitting are great, but keep in mind they where designed for AIR and hydrolic fluids, not Gasoline. The ethanol will make the rubber seals go hard in no time. Also they were designed for Pressure, not suction.

Get this on/off valve you will never have another problem. So long as you remember to turn it off at the end of the day lol http://www.dreamworksrc.com/catalog/...-Shutoff-Valve

Re: Fuel problem

I have to add that the Niagara Region Club put on a great meet . There was a lot of great flying and really nice airplanes considering the conditions. Thanks to those who worked the event, well done. Glenn.

Re: Fuel problem

Hi all.
Bill the motor ran like a clock, the airplane stayed on top of the water not a drop inside and Tom did a masterful job on the maiden flight. The Spektrum system worked perfectly. I plan a few slight changes for the next flying. It was very windy and choppy up above so we hope to set things up better on a better day.. Overall, all the work I did on the plane was very rewarding and it drew a lot of fine remarks. Many thanks to all I am Very Happy. Glenn

Re: Fuel problem

Hi Larry,
Happy to see you are getting that much flying in. The Messenger looks great! I can't get out much anymore. Plans are to get out to the "Water Fly" this week end and to the "Vintage Fly" on August the 20. Hope the weather is not too bad. Working on the Kingfisher, E-III and a 1/3 Pitts this summer. Hope to have all three finished so I can get at the five cylinder powered "Southern Martlet" , one of Fred's first designs. Glenn

Re: Fuel problem

Hello Glenn:

Good see you are still active. I have been getting out a couple times a week.
Have been flying my Messenger, after a complete rebuild. For a change used a
Saito 36cc Gas for power, at 26 lbs. fly's very scale like.

Re: Fuel problem

Hi Larry. Have you been flying much up there. Lots of wind and hot, hot, hot, here. I got the Quadra running great and now the whole plane is ready to go. I have about 3 to 3 1/2 degrees up thrust on the motor now. I think I will take some out as I put a new steel cross member in to support the front pylon legs. The old aluminum cross member was sagging badly, so I probably gained a few degrees.

Thanks MOGMAN for your info. I'm going to take a little up thrust out on my airplane for the reason I mention above. Thanks again to all. Hope to try things out on Sat at the old Bieda farm. Glenn

Re: Fuel problem

That crappy old Quadra has been running perfectly since 1978 when that model was scratch built.
There are hundreds of flights on that Kingfisher.

Good luck with the maiden Glenn, it flys like a Cub.
