Doesn't Clarence Lee still do helicoil repairs on stripped heads?

Re: Hirtenberger stripped threads - UPDATE

Thanks guys. I went to the MECOA web site and ordered a new head and muffler gasket for a HP 40 SS. I'll keep you posted. Thx for the fast help. cheers

Bill

Items received today . Good people to deal with. With the number of older engines I have I know I will be ordering from them again.

This company claims to own the rights to the engines, and they list several for sale. IIRC, the gold cup engines had a gold anodized head and the Silver Star had black heads. According to the website, they have the Silver Star .40 head in stock.

See: https://shop.mecoa.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=121

Note: I've never dealt with them, so I can't attest to their quality or reliability. If they turn out to be a good company to deal with, please do let me know.

I've bought parts from Mecoa,.. no issues, quick service.

I don't think it was the silver star...and by the way it is an HP engine Not an HB! They were two different companies. You can probably get it from a place called RJL in California near
Sierra Madre from a fellow named Randy. But, I have heard that the service is not the speediest. You are probably better off to shop on Ebay.

Hirtenberger stripped threads

My first post and it's about a problem - must be the heat. I've been away from the hobby for 20+ years and am getting back into it. Emptied out my old flight kit of engines and started to clean things up. All Ok till I hit a 40 Hirtenberger. I somehow stripped - the glow plug threads in the head when removing the old plug. I think I can get a new head in the states but I can't remember what style of engine it is Silver Star or Gold Cup?? The cylinder head is black in colour and other then the old HB crest and engine size there are no other markings on it. I've had this engine since the mid seventies. Any old timers out there that are familiar with these engines? thx for all comments.
