Re: do you have an Atom 500 ? Well, I got a Jr 8900G and a Jr 770 3D in the mail for the tail. (not sure about that gyro, been told its a doozy to set). And for the cyclick I'm going with the Hyperion DS16. These servos have good reviews. Looking forward to try them out. I'll have to be patient though, they haven't left RCHeliCanada yet and over here winter is very settled in. Winter solstice's around the corner, the days will start to get longer pretty soon |

I was a consumer before I decide to become a dealer. The owner is in direct contact with his dealers via Skype. Just last nite, I was was speaking with him for about an hour about a variety of things as I get ready to launch my site officially. Compass is a company that listens to it's pilots and consumers alike. If you look at the new 7HV - they made changes to canopy after reading criticism over its looks and design. Same goes for the rudder push rod. This is a company driven by innovation, and isn't afraid to listen to it's customer base and make changes. To me, that alone is worth its weight ... and one of the reasons I decided to get involved with them. The Team Pilots are always assisting the consumer, and the dealers assist one another. How many dealers do you see assisting and working with one another? |

I personally own an Atom 500E, the quality and innovation are excellent. I suspect you'll be seeing a lot more from this brand in the future. Hopefully, we can bring some team pilots out to some funflies across the country this summer.... |

Re: do you have an Atom 500 ? Speaking only for myself, I take the word and advice of people who had Compass products before me. I look around, I read, I watch vids, I shop, I listen, then I make a decision. The technical part of a heli, for now doesn't interest me like it does you. From the info I have gathered + what I want out of a heli matches the brand I choose. I have a very good idea of the kind of product I'm going to buy. True, haven't flown for a long time, not much experience, but just enough to know what I want. As I stated earlier, I have a clone made up of 85% Align products, a doozy of a heli. I'd like a bigger one and of a different maker, that's all, really. I like the Compass and wanted to share my findings, this is one of the reasons the forums exist, I think, sharing. And your views to me are always welcome. Mr. Noel |

Re: do you have an Atom 500 ? I do not wish this to be taken the wrong way. But I think it is pertinent to this thread, and that it has been cautiously hinted at by Shawn. I am curious to know what criteria those that have only a few years experience and/or have experience with a limited amount or type of helis, use to judge the worthiness of the bigger RC helis (those using 520mm or longer blades)? What do they use to analyze the merits of the rotor design? e.g. underslung flybar or overslung flybar? Leading edge control or trailing edge control? Bell mixers on the seesaw or on the blade grip arms? or when one may be better with one but not the other? etc. Ditto for the various tail rotor designs? What design parameters are relative to the most efficient transfer of power & the longevity of the main and tail rotor drive trains? Ditto for the design parameters of the main rotor and tail rotor control systems? The types/quality of the GRP or aluminum used in the heli? e.g. Could the high quality of the GRP composite and moldings in one heli, be better then the lower quality CNC aluminum bits or C/F used in another? Does the C/F used in one model only have the two outer layers made of C/F, while the inner layers are really black fiberglass? Can a swashplate with a quality GRP outer star develop less slop over time then one that is of shiny aluminum? How many distributors has a manufacturer had over a 10 year period (or since their inception) in any major market? That would certainly tell how well the manufacturer supports their customer base. I have found that all of the above seems to become ever more important to everyone, the longer they have been in the hobby. Unfortunately they are not so obvious to any of us when we first get into the hobby and still have so much to learn. |

Re: do you have an Atom 500 ? Thanks for the reply, Belcom For now I'll wait and see what RCHeliCanada store has to offer. If the difference is a couple of $, I'll go with C.C. Later, I'll check out the prices on the parts from this guy. Don't forget here in Quebec we have 2 taxes, The item + 5% = total + 7.5% = total Shipping is the same for taxes, 471.99 + 35.39(7.5%) = 507.38 + 25.36(5%) = 532.74 $532.74 + shipping |
